Hi Georgi,
I am still learning and flying a Trex 500 now but, the 550 will be my first FBL.

=] plenty of pilots in here with that superb heli, I forgot to mention the manual is in the help tab on the GUI software.

I converted one of my T500's to FBL for around £60 all in, and used the SK to drive it. this could be a good option for you to explore alongside a 550e build. get to know the unit then transfer it to the 550 and either refit FB spec to the 500 or get a second unit!

I love spending other peoples money,!!

I was practicing tic tocs this evening. Fingers got confused, heli about 40 ft up in front of me and falling fast - tail first. At about 10 ft off the ground, my finger snapped into action and flipped the bailout switch, the heli leveled out upright, slowed down, and I quickly injected it with a dose of collective and throttle. Up she went. Whew!

That would have been a nasty crash with a week long rebuild - averted again!

Go for it Jay!

I started with a coaxial - graduated to TRex 450 and never really got the hang of it - I could hover it around but whenever I tried anything more ambitious it got away on me. So I went FBL with a (Align) 3G unit and it didn't help much. Bought an SK720 and it made SO much difference. I now have 2 units on a TRex 450 and a Compass Atom 500. I still just cruise around scale style but can advance at my own pace.
Today I had my 500 on a school field and it would drive itself gently forwards hands-off (well it would tend to revert to a hover, but a some forward collective (EDIT I mean cyclic!) would get it going again). Then I'd go hands-on to turn it round and traverse the field again.
If this sounds too boring - you can also do wild 3D with the unit but I can't tell about that.

You've heard about "Real Flight", the simulator.

Well, this is "Real Flight", the real thing. If set up properly, self-leveling could save you from the cost of a crash, but still provide you with real world flight experience.

I've played with simulators a little. But the real thing is still different.

Even if you work a lot with simulators, you're still going to have to conquer any feelings of intimidation. For me it's brought my skill level past the point of only hovering. While I'm still learning basic skills, I'm now starting to venture into FPV flight by looking at the video monitor occasionally to see what the heli sees.

I don't think I would be doing this without the SL feature.

Welcome to the sk club

When the sk720 works its hands down the best fbl unit
most features, the sl is great

Hopefully all goes smooth for you, because there are some headaches
if your heli has some bad vibes, be prepared to spend countless hours eliminating them.

I think that's my only gripe, so yeah enjoy
real life sim is the best analogy yet
