Default 600 tail on 700

So my 700 tail case is a tight fit in the Marvelcraft Agusta 109. I know the booms for a 600 and 700 are the same diameter so I assume a 600 tail case will slide right on. Question is, will the torque tube from the 700 slide into the 600 tail gears? A 600 tail case would make this fit so much easier. In fact, the instructions show a picture of a 700 tail with some hacking done to make it fit and also have a drawing (for hole locations) that shows a 600 tail case superimposed in the tail. much more room.

It will fit.....
The only real difference is the amount or throw the 600 has compared to the 700.

Are you saying the 700 tail gives more pitch than a 600? I would think whatever it has is enough for a scale heli.

For your purpose it will work fine.
And yes, the 700 tail box has greater travel than a 600 .... but unless your planning on some wild stick banging on a scaler, you won't see any difference in performance.

Nightflyr is 100% correct , I have a 600 tail gearbox on my T700 scaler and it is super smaller in size but yet still does an outstanding job.

Thanks for the replies guys. Guess I'll be ordering a 600 tail case.

The 600 tail worked great. Barely fit so don't know how I could have ever used the 700 case.Click image for larger version

The 600 case also is slightly longer than the 700, so the torque tube was just touching the umbrella gear and not engaging. I took an 800 TT and cut it down to the length I needed then pinned the end for a little piece of mind. Here you can see the difference between stock 700 tube and my modified one.Click image for larger version

Oh trust me the 700 tail does fit. But it's really tight. I can post a pic later if you like

Yeah I know it would squeeze in especially if I lowered its position but didn't want any slight vibration issues to create chafing and rub through. The only problem I might have is that the 600 rotor shaft isn't as long which might present blade clearance issues with the side of the fuse when at full pitch. Might need narrow cord blades.

You may want to consider raising the mechanics up. I'm now running into the main shaft not being tall enough. I have the longest 700 main shaft and it still needs to be another 10 mms taller

Are you using an E model? I've converted my 700n to electric. It sits pretty high. These were designed around the nitro version.
