Unhappy Gyro testing hl400

Hi All,

Major "L" Plates on here.

Was given a twister storm 3d and am now looking at learning to fly heli's.

Have been playing with getting it setup (Dont worry not touching the linkages)

I did manage to get everything moving including the rudder through the Gyro
But then thought I should get everything to move as it should that's when I found swash plate types changed it to 120 3s and hey presto everything behaved and went where it should even managed to get the directions right. Ok most of them behaved. Rudder servo through the Gyro didn't play the game.

Where to from here. The light on the gyro keeps flashing and no matter what I do can not get it to set. I have plugged the servo straight into the receiver and it works fine. I have the gyro plugged into the rudder and the gain plugged into the "gear" (XG8 and RG611b receiver) Turn on the receiver / Gyro and then the transmitter nothing

OK during setup on the radio I have a choice as to where the Gyro is connected I chose gear other choices where Aux1 aux2 or INH

Is there any way to test the gyro to see if I have killed it? Do I need to do some sort of reset to get it active again.

Any help would be appreciated then I can

Regards

Chances are that your Gyro is not in Head Holding mode, but in Rate mode. This is something you can usually adjust within your radio on the "Gyro" setting . Check the manual on the Gyro and see what the gain has to be set at to initiate Head Holding mode.

Also check that you have plugged in the Tail Servo into the Gyro correctly. I did this when setting up my T-Rex 500 tail servo. I plugged the servo in the wrong way and nothing happened. Flipped the connection and Viola!

Which Gyro are you using?

Is this a Storm 3-D like the ones from Helipal ? Anyway, does it have a separate receiver and gyro. (not one of those mall maggots, right?) On CCPM birds it's the other way around, Tx first Rx second.

Your gyro must be on rate mode (on the radio) before doing any adjustments to the tail.

Hope this helps some.

Take a look at channel 5. The gyro gain signal wire where it plugs into RX.
Is there any possibility you have this wire plugged into the RX with the wire in the wrong end of the 3 prong plug ?

I don't understand why the RC electronics industry cannot adopted a standard sexed plug like Futaba!
This is one of those things that really bits my a$$.
