Under 50x for a better look of the cracks.

The good news is, reflow the receiver chip usually works very well for this
kind of the cracking problem. It is pretty much the same deal as mcpx.
Nice work.

I have been running orings under the board on my mcpx's partly to absorb vibe for tail and partly to absorb and damp crash impact.

Think I read the Nano's 3in1 was mounted more solidly than the Mcpx's...perhaps o-rings would help reduce the abruptness of the impact without causing detrimental flight behaviour?

Btw that mcpx board I spoke to you about a while back. Won't run a brushed tail at all and not the fet. Will test with a bl tail and if that works sweet...doubtful I'll be running brushed on a mcpx tail...may send it to you to have a look-see anyway.

Congrats on the inverted reverse 8's too

Mega Stumbler, I have a board to send you, if still interested.

Mine will not "hold a bind" but I'm using that term loosely here. At least it gives the appearance that the bind is lost. Furthermore, have noticed that if I try to wiggle the board some, the blue led flickers. And like others have posted, it takes many (20 to 30) attempts to bind before the led remains on, like solid blue.

I'll send a PM.

In the mean time I'm tempted to unplug the main motor followed by plugging the tail motor into that connector just to see what happens. Is it the motor, is it the board? Hummmm.

Well, I plugged the tail motor into the main motor connector. No perceived difference.

Was having this problem last night. Thanks to your info, I reflowed the board and was able to bind to my Tx again. Thank you very much.

Glad to heard that it works for you. Yes reflow works very well on the cracked receiver problem.

I have had trouble with mine linking every time, but have only bound it twice:

Once to set it up.

Once after I set it up.

Sometimes it takes two or three times for it to link.

I have gotten mind to bind correctly twice I think, in 10s and 10s of tries. Pretty frustrated right now. Guess I have to get out the soldering iron.

For the record, does not remember the binding, need to rebind very time.
Some times it can bind and some times it doesn't all can be result of
some receiver pin does not have solid soldering with the PCB.

Reflow often works well on those as well. There is no guarantee though.

Well, I now have another board that's toast. I can't believe this.

Posted above, #42, that I had a nano board that would not bind/hold a bind. I sent it to Mega Stumbler for some his magic then ordered another board from WOW Hobbies.

Replacement board arrived yesterday. Got it to bind right away. Hurray! But then before I could even get the canopy on, it dropped the bind and now refuses to do so again. Plus now there's a different twist. No more quick flash. The blue led flashes slow, 4 second intervals, after the battery is plugged in, with or without the transmitter turned on.

Mega Stumbler, want another board to dissect??

I do have one other nano CP X. It's perfectly fine. At least as of this five minutes.

Sure. I got your first one fixed. The second one sounds like a gyro issue.

Reflow is resolder the pins of the SMC parts on the PCB to make it connect
again.

Nice work.

What is the plan for the second one with bad gyro? Is it savable?

Thanks for the follow-up on reflow.

My plan is to get this second board in to Mega Stumbler for some more of his magic.

I just noticed that he has a web site along with a business repairing boards. Don't know how I over looked that before. What a wonderful service to have available to us. And at most reasonable pricing too.

Just to reiterate, this is a brand new replacement board from factory sealed packaging. The first bind was easy and quick. No more than 1 minute later, before I even got the canopy on, the LED went out. The board is now totally non-responsive except for a very slow flash (4 sec interval) of the LED. No servo buzz, nothing.

Never even got to it's first spool-up.

Cracks at the RX data bus. Looks like crash damage. I'll post pics soon.

Why not warranty in this instance as it is brand new?

Fair question, Amp.

In this instance my choice is to support the HF community and Mega Stumbler's business, with a probable outcome of contributing to the knowledge base we have here. The alternative of course would be to submit a warranty claim with Horizon, get a new board, maybe save a few dollars, but learn nothing.

Amp, forgot to mention, I think your idea of placing o-rings behind the board's mounting points has real merit. If I can find long enough screws of the proper dia., thInk I will give that a try.
