i cant seem to get 13 +13- .I had the ikon and still could not do it ,now i just put a mini vbar on till my other 540 shows up,and still cant get the same +- pitch .All my links are as per manual ,i tried turning them down 2 then 4 full turns and still get 13+ and 11.5- .I have been screwing with this for a few days now i could adjust the travel but i do not want to since ill be using the vbar gov and want it mechanically set proper .So is anyone else have this problem or is it just me lol

Make sure your servo horns are at 90 degrees to the servo. I went through this before finally resetting all links to what was specified in the manual, then I adjusted each servo in the swash set-up menu to level the swash and ensure 0 pitch at mid-stick.

are you measuring the blade pitch from the side of the heli or from the front?

The closest I could get mine was 1 degree as well. At this point I just used the endpoints to make them the same. I haven't noticed anything negative. Im using a mini vbar.

I dont trust digital pitch gauges accuracy. I say if you are getting -12 and +13 I would shorten the linkages 1 turn see what that gives then hover it, if it feels normal to my fingers on the sticks. Call it a day.

I would only lower the swash if the servo arms were not parallel with the swash, or if lowering the swash makes the swash linkages 90 degrees to servo arms.

Jason is really good at setting up helis, im assuming his servo arms are the right length, the linkages are at 90 degrees and his servo arms, swash and main blades grips are parallel to each other at 0 degrees pitch.

Jason,

Can you get even pitch lower than +13/-13? I think it would be a link adjustment or collective limits on the fbl unit if all the servo geometry is correct. My swash to servo links are 1.805 inches.

Same here. I lowered the swash on mine. Which required the upper fbl links be lengthened to equalize the move. Easy! Really this is no different than the dozens of other fbl heads I have setup. Other than the fact it is nearly impossible to precision adjust the fbl link lengths.

I am seriously thinking about picking up some 2.5mm counter threaded rod and reverse threading a new set of Quick UK links for that.
One of the things I don't like are smaller dia swash centers. They reduce the actual fbl pitch ratio. So oftentimes you have to overdrive the servos to get the pitch range needed. Which penalizes in accuracy. On my older builds when I first started making my own fbl heads and dfc systems before they got popular, I could adjust the ratio by swash sizes and fbl grip arm lengths out from center. On this head it all has to be done in the controller and/or Tx.
