Hobbywing electronics works fine, and 40A ESC is a good level. SG90s are good cheap servos for cyclic, a GY401 is a top gyro, and the S3114 I don't think you will get. The S3154, which i used on my tail for a while, worked well.

Just so you know the programming card is not necessary as you can program it through the transmitter.. Although.. Not everyone can do it.. I guess I'm just fluent in Beep...

Though if you wanted to up-the-fancy-ness on your ESC selection, grab a Scorpion if it's in the budget.

Wow that would be really nice get. Though how pratical is it really. I mean would it make that big of a difference, putting the scorpion on.

Scorpion is a good ESC, but I've been flying a hobbywing 30A for a year now with no complaints. If you are going with the 401 gyro I'd say go for the combo with the 9257 or the 9254. You may run into a weight issue with the tail though. Might as well throw in a 3dx head and tail also. i cant say that I miss the upgrade day personally. i ended up spending enough to buy a loaded Trex 500.

That's usually how it goes Matt.. I got more into my 450 then I do in my 500 and I have 1 ARTF and 2 spare airframes.. LOL

If you want a wicked tail combo pick up a Logictech LTG2100T and LTS3100G combo off readyheli.com for $100 (usually goes for $250 or so).

As for the scorpion bit. Well, I think you may get more longevity out of a scorpion. That's just my speculation as I've been dealed two failed Hobbywing 30A ESC..

Any word Matt when you're gonna pull the trigger on a 500? Better hurry, everyone's leaving 500's and jumping into 600's.. Bastards eh?

".......go for the combo with the 9257 or the 9254. You may run into a weight issue with the tail though."

--was why I suggested the S3154, but the combos are often good value - thinking of later, bigger helis!!!

A good value upgrade would be to put a TREX type head on the beast

There is a sligth weight issue indeed, but is a small one: I have put a S9257 on the tail of my CopterX instead of a MG90, and mounting the battery a few millimeters more forward is enough to counteract the extra weight, so don't worry Teapot. The tailservo is rather close to the center of gravity, so the extra weight is not that important. The 9254 is another story, it is a lot heavier, but it would be overkill to use this size on a 450, IMHO.
FYI: the S9257 = 26 grams. Not so much heavier...

Yea moving the batt will fix the weight issue. Trex type head will make a big difference

also unless the cyclic belcranks are nice and slop free its probably worth doing a DTS mod at least on the rear 2 servo's (see the stickies)

As soon as I win the lottery I'll get a 500. Money is tight as a razor blade around here.

Here is an update list of parts that I'm looking at. Please tell me if the is going a little over board for a newbie or if I'm getting into things a litte to complicated.

Scorpion 6 Cell Switching BEC - 45 AMP SW
Futaba S9257 Ep Heli Digital Rudder Servo - Tail
3x Tower Pro Mini Servo SG-90
Futaba G401 Futaba Gyro
Futaba 7C 2.4GHZ Heli Tx/RX Radio ( comes with R617FS Reciever)
ESKY Precision CNC HEad and Tail

Everything looks to be a simple install. Most of this cant be any hard than working on KC-135's. If I am off base please again let me know. So I know what I got my self into.

You are summing up all prime equipment and then you gonna put a "ESKY Precision ( read bad) CNC Head and Tail" on it .
I have the pink stuff and believe me it is not better then the plastic version ( but still flyable)

+1 Erwin ,do not get the purple bling no one has ever said anything good about it.

If you can afford it this is a great quality but cheaper than align option

Align T-Rex 450 New SX Head and Tail Combo

Or these are what a lot of us use

Align T-Rex 450 New SX Head and Tail Combo

with the second one you need to move the antirotation pin guide to the front of the heli.
There are details of how to in the sticky threads

+1. Dont do the purple crap. Get a copterx head and tail or buy the 7075 3dx head and tail.

Not if you get that sonix head that I posted the link for, the swash plate has an extra arm which will alow you to have the anti rotation pin in the same position as the stock swash. If you get a copterx (or align ) head you will need to move the ar pin guide to the front of your heli as the swash on this head combines the ar pin with the front servo ball link. alternativly you could buya separate type b swash plate, I believe both sportsmoto and blink trading have them in the UK.

Have a look through this

https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=107467

Oh I nearly forgot the ball links on these heads are 4.5 mm not 4mm like the stock belt so you will need to replace the plastic links to the servo's on the new head with Esky ones or replace the balls on the servo arms with 4.5 mm ones.

With all that upgrading you are very close to building a new heli.
Take a look at this CopterX Kit.

You got some premo stuff selected - but like was said you had too ruin your awesome streak of selecting top notch stuff and mention the pEsky Purple CNC head/tail!

As said, the purple Esky bling sucks. Sloppy and weak. It fly's but not all that well.

Grab a CopterX head and do the AR pin guide mod (it's easy...) or grab one of the other mentioned heads.

Other than that you'll have a setup that all too good for a Belt-CP..

Though Tjomp brings up a good point.. If you're gonna spend $39-$59 on a CopterX head/tail combo you might as well grab the ENTIRE kit with the CNC head/tail for the same price and slap on your high-end gear you've got picked out.

Than you can just sell what is left of the Belt-CP to some one else.. LOL
