I've heard 3500 is the max recommended rpm. I wonder what points are stressed more once above 3500. Grips? Belt? Tail? I wonder because I've tried my 450 pro at 4k rpm and it's is a friggen blast. It wouldn't be a daily flyer, but good for a sunday afternoon rip.

Default hi

im assuming that max head speed is because of the plastic main grips,, i hope he gets the metal ones out soon. i m planning on building this ship for higher head speeds... does anyone know what the projected headspeed is with the 17t and 18t ?

Holy moly man.... fly it with the 16T first and see if you need any more headspeed. I can't imagine needing more than what it'll do with the 16T!

Don't count on MSH releasing metal blade grips, they never did for the big Protos. There's nothing wrong with the plastic...

It all depends on the plastic. Align? Totally agree. MSH, Mikado, Miniature Aicraft? Plastic is fine.

So far and only my opinion this little guy flies best around 3100 max, for best park it control and so fourth it seems to be the best balance rpm. For small tight stuff the higher HS makes judgement more difficult and takes away from the collective control and input precision.

Interesting, I'll have to tach mine. I'm running 85% flat throttle on gov mode with stock pinion.

Based on my tests yesterday, 85% on the stock setup is likely around 3500 rpm. Of course, it may vary depending on your radio but here's what I got at zero pitch using an optical tach pointed at the rotor:

65% = 2600
75% = 3050
85% = 3500

That was with a Turnigy 30c 2200 fresh off the charger.

3500 @ 85%, hope it's less while flying.

I doubt I'll use that mode very often, if ever! I'm more of a low headspeed smooth aerobatics kind of guy.

Ya, agreed MSH plastics are good..After hundreds of flight only broke my blade grip today for the big brother because ESC cut out and drop. broke at the links side n strip the DS510 gears. First time ESC cut though.
I love the landing gear still my first set though I bought spare.
The plastics tail blade is also doing wonders stopping though so soft no CF needed.
I won't upgrade or change anything to metal. Plain Stock flies so well. Save my $ for the batteries give me more fly time or $ for good blades.
The only upgrade I thought of is the Scorpion 880kv to replace the stock MSH.
Just sharing..:-)

tached min last evening at 85% and gov on 10CHG produces 3200 hs with WR helitach.
Feels right at that rpm. Most 450pros were running 3400ish.
