Default How to tell if motor or ESC is bad (HH brushless)

Hi guys,

I have a HH brushless motor and ESC in my box that do not work together. I had a problem in the past with either the board killing the motor or the motor killing the board, but Horizon Hobby replaced things for me. First, the motor, and then the board, but in the end when that didn't work, they replaced both the board and the ESC together, and I have a working unit. What I am left with, though, is an essentially new ESC and new motor that do not work together. Is there a way I can tell if either one of them is good? I don't want to test them with the working combination that I have, because somehow it seemed like in the past one part was killing the other(maybe that sounds strange). I don't want to risk killing my working combination. Any help would be great. I do have a spare "mild" motor sitting around, too, if need be.

Thanks in advance for your help.
Dave

In my experiences, the HH ESC is able to run the 13500 motor from extreme Productions. Probably be the same for your AD motor. But considering what you think happened before... I'd toss the suspected bad parts.

I had a bad ESC that burned up two nCPX boards. Fortunately HH replaced bother boards and the ESC/motor combo.

Hopefully someone on here has a better knowledge of how to test the ESC or Motor without risking any more parts.

Yea, I'd like to test. I have a stock nCPx that could be changed over. My hope is that the ESC is good and I can use the mild motor that I have. That would give me a wild, a HH btushless, and a hybrid. I just like playing around. I guess I'm bored. Lol
