I just got my 550SX flying well... need a couple more packs for it. I'll be making this my mainline for a while so I'll let you know how the tail behaves. Dead stock.

Greg: cranking the cyclic gain up (from TRex 500 setting to Logo setting) did the trick, thanks. I also fixed a swash level (it had a little back-elevator). I think that this, coupled with the low gain explains why the tail would droop after I would swing the tail.

It's pretty nice now. I also chipped away at the Castle gov setting... It wouldn't let me do 2300, so I got it to like 2280. Haven't checked it with a tach. Pretty responsive. Not quite fierce.

The 600 has more balls, I'd say, but this is a pretty nice heli. Still getting used to it.

Only 4 flights in.

I had this problem on my 600sx also and fixed one fo them with dual bearings and the other with the Spedix tensioner. Both solutions work just great. Also, it's good to know it fits the 550 tail box also -- guess I assumed the box was thinner due to the thinner boom but the difference must just be inner portion of the tail box boom clamps which actually makes more sense.

Got about 20 flights in over the weekend. No problems. I think it's good to go now.

Yea something is just not right with it. I have about 40 flights after installing the spedix tail belt tensioner. Very happy and confident with the heli now.

I kind of ran into this today. I have a logo 500 with the CF tail. Idler pulley position is just infront of the rear tail pulley. I made a bearing pulley out of 3 bearings and it covers the belt pretty good.

Couple of days ago I replace it with this "MIK4274 Mikado Carbon Belt Tensioner LOGO 500SE" because my bearings were getting kind of rough.

I didn't really like it cause the bearing didn't center well over the belt. It kept the belt from leaving the rear tail gear, but it kind of started creeping past the idler pulley spreading the belt dust all around.

Going to go back to my home made job of 3 bearings riding over the belt.
Also the bearings on my home made job are smaller in diameter than the one on the MIK4274 kit.

My next step is getting a Raptor 30 belt and cut down a SE boom to fit.

I had the belt come off twice lately. Increased the belt tension and made my tail stops softer (ikon/brain) and this seems to have resolved it. Not sure why the walls of the tail shaft pulley aren't taller, as there is plenty of room and that would help prevent the problem.

It's been nice to practice my autos though. Lots of headspeed without the belt drag. Landed without damage both times.

I haven't had an issue yet in 20 flights on mine and I am running quite loose tail belt. I will be keeping an eye on mine.

Seems to me it wanted to pop off during heavy tail loading moves (rapid change in direction of the rudder or something like a tail down, blades in, counterclockwise wall). Anyhow, with the dual bearings or Spedix tensioner, the issue hasn't come back.

I just ordered a Speedix tensioner - finally back in stock at buddyrc. You guys have me worried, though. I just got this thing built, I don't want to destroy it because a belt slipped - that might be the end of the hobby for me.

You will not be disappointed in the spedix. Great quality and I purposely beat the heli trying to get it to come off (testing). Really confident in this heli now.

I need to check dimensions, but I was digging through my bearing box and found two thin bearings, same OD as stock idler bearing, but larger ID. I also had some blade bolt inserts (3mm ID, 5mm OD) that went right in. Cut down the stock plated sleeves and wallah, it is 30% wider than stock and looks just right. Now I need to find out where to purchase more of those!!!

Guys. Myself and a few others here have noticed the bolts that are used to clamp the tail are not long enough to fully engage the nylon in the nuts, resulting in the tail loosening off causing problems.

Either flip the nuts or fit longer bolts if yours are the same.
