Anyone Run a 2.4 Downlink Cam direct from the Receiver Power Switch?

I am lookimng at doing this to save weight - but won't do it if could cause a problem.

what's the camera's power requirements?

I am using a 900mhz trasmitter that requires 12v . so I am using a cheap small 1050mah LiPoly for the power.

Try using a Dimension Engineering AnyVolt Micro Universal DC-DC Converter. This device takes a 2.4V - 14V input and produces a 2.4V - 14V output (adjustable with a potentiometer). At 9V output the converter can produce 500 ma, which should be sufficient for the camera that you are using (I have the same system). You can purchase the converter for US$19.99 at:

You can run a 9v downlink directly off a 2S LiPo directly with no issues

FWIW, if you're running 5V video equipment like those from www.microwireless.com, www.rangevideo.com, a small ESC in parallel to the motor's ESC will do. Just run the video equipment off the servo wire that usually goes to the Rx.

This is what I've done with my FPV HBK2 with good results...
