Default .5 mod or .7 mod on L500 3D?

I bought a NIB kit here in RR from someone but I dont think I got the .7 mod gears. Does it make a difference to use .5 or .7? What pinion should I use on Hacker a40 10L w/ TPX 6S 5000batt? thanks

Default .7 or .5 Pinion

I would alwys go for the .7 gear to be on the save side.. Pinion is dependent what headspeed you want to go for - I think you can start with 13t

Regards,

Peter

On a Hacker A40-10L-8 (1100KV) 6S configuration you'll get the following head speeds for different pinions and mods. Overall, I think a mod 0.5 is fine for a Logo 500 running the Hacker.

These are max attainable speeds and you'll probably have it tuned down some on the governor to give it more head room.
Mod 0.7 (153T)
14T ~= 2100 (2150 full battery)
15T ~= 2250 (2320 full battery) <- This is my setup
16T ~= 2400 (2460 full battery)

Mod 0.5 (212T)
20T ~= 2160 (2218 full battery)
21T ~= 2270 (2330 full battery)
22T ~= 2380 (2440 full battery)

You can get these numbers yourself if you want to try my head speed calculator.

I think a 21T would be a good pinion for Mod 0.5 to keep a balance on power/heat.

OK, I'm new here. Can someone explain what is the difference between mod 0.5 and 0.7? Is it a dimension such as thickness? Or tooth count?

Basically the size of the teeth. 0.7 is bigger.

My question now...

I guess .5 would let you run a smaller pinion. But are there any other advantages/disadvantages? For example, would it be smoother and quieter?

Try to use Mod.7, it is more robust. other than gearing options as per kv and relevant ratios etc there is no advantage to Mod.5

05 is great for smoooooth and quiet on 6s 500mm blades smooth flying. mod07 you can push more power through on the 550mm+ blades

0.5, 0.6, 0.7, 1.0

they are standards, like like M2 M3 M4 and so on. it is simply the depth and pitch of the teeth as a standard.

All gears have this number, even car gearboxes do
