I tested 70% throttle on the Trex 500 V2 flybar kit with the BL70G in governor mode and the RPM dropped to 2355 rpm. I didn't really notice a big difference in performance for my flying so I am keeping it there. I didn't notice any more heat from the ESC than normal. I might experiment with lower throttle but I don't think I would want to keep it much lower than 70. I have yet to review how dropping to 70% has impacted the held rpm consistency (variance in rpm at hover and during maneuvers). I am curious if it got better or worse and I suspect it got worse.

Did you mean 2355? 1355 seems awfully low, and you said you were getting 2440 rpm at 75%.

Any thoughts on these in a 500e, anyone?

I like the fact that they already come with a Deans connector installed, and the price is also pretty good. They are a little on the large/heavy side, though. Do they fit, and will the COG be OK?
They also have slightly smaller/lighter ones, but they have been out of stock forquite a while already:

Wow, those are some big suckers! They certainly won't fit under the stock canopy. Are you using them in that MD500?

Just FYI,

Rapicon 3300 30c and Zippy Compact 3300 60C fits into 500 L Dominator, but I dont think a bigger battery than Zippy Compact will fit this heli.

Anyone know what is the largest 6s battery that will fit in an old 500GF with a fusuno EX canopy?

Have you done the battery tray mod? If so, then 3300 is about the largest I've seen. You also have to worry about CoG too - any larger than 3300, and the heli is going to be really nose heavy.

I haven't done any mods apart from buying a larger canopy.
Are you talking about the clear plastic one in the sticky?

Probably 3000mAh then, the mod makes the space for the battery larger. However I wouldn't suggest you going bigger than 3A battery, bear in mind that higher C will also make the battery bigger, with the mod done my bigguest lipo is 3000mAh 40C . If you want a heli thats agile then 2650mAh or 2800mAh is better.

No, go back to the first page of this thread, and you'll see pictures of the mod. Essentially, it just lowers your battery tray. On your heli, your battery tray will meet the upper front corner of your servos. After the mod is done, it should meet somewhere near the middle.

I started using the Revolectrix 6S 3000 HV (charged to 4.3v/cell), the batteries are a little heavier but I run 8 minute flight times @ 2550 RPM. I also have a couple Magnum 6S 2800 that I run for 7 minutes.

I mount the two battery types slightly different, the 3000s put the bird just slightly nose heavy, and the 2800s slightly tail heavy, the change in CG is not really noticeable, but the weight difference is a little bit noticeable.

A side note, are you carging blend 427 to 4.3v/cell? I cant find any blend 435 3000 mah.

How are those HV Revolectrix performing, ballancing, cell IR, etc? They have a great capacity to weight ratio. Wich BEC are you using? I am afraid my Castle10A BEC will be damaged with HV batteries (higher than 25.2volts).

Thanks

In a more satisfactory condition I think you'd be better off if you were using a Castle BEC Pro and didn't use the 10A version which is really limited.

Anyone know what kind of battery Alan is using here?
Alan Szabo Jr. ALIGN Trex 500 PRO 3GX 9/6/2011 (6 min 13 sec)

I have the same heli and using nano-tech 2650 and only get 2:50mins. They come down a little hot and around 20-25% left. 100% flat throttlecurve and 3D flying.
