Default Trex700e hv dfc: what rx batt. do you use?

Hi Guys, what brand and type of rx batt are you using? I,m currently on Gens ace 4000mAh 2s1p but it can not hold the current peaks so i had to remove the electronics from the battery.
Other brands are to big when mounting the canopy. They are to long.
Thx.

2s 4000 gens at only 10c is 40A. I don't think your battery should be the issue. Or if it is, then the pack may have problems.

What ga. are your leads? Where are your battery connections? (Rx, fbl?). Make sure you have at least 2 separate high quality battery leads and that you are feeding directly to the bus with your servos plugged in.

Ok I have a Trex 700 V2 still on the box. I currently fly my 600's with 6S 4000 Mah batteries in 12 S setup. I fly scale to gentle sport and get 7 min flights with 3,8 V per cell when I land. Can I use the same batteries for the 700 as well?

Yes you can fly with 600 lipos. But 2*4000mah in 700 class. 4000lipos are light and maybe a nice flied 700 but not 7 minutes in the air. I have 600e pro heli so i am gonna make a test. Current sensor works great with vbar control so.

Rx battery or flight battery? A pair of decent 6S 5000's would be the typical setup for the esc/motor. For the RX battery, I am using the Hobico 2S LiFe 2100

5000are the typical battery for a 700 but I think I am going to run 4500s. For my Rx pack I am going to run a pulse 2s 2600 may Rx pack.

Hi, maybe some clarification:
I use tyhe Gens ace 4000mAh 7.4V Rx (see http://www.gensace.de/lipo-battery/t...tery-pack.html)
The problem is that the max cont current is 4A and the burst is 8A.
When all servo's are doing moderate action the current go's over this 8A and the electronics inside the batt.cut the power. I noticed it on the ground when initializing.
So now I'm curious to see what type and brand you are using because the canopy is close to the RX batt.

Hi, I am using a Turnigy NanoTech 2000mAh/2S/20C LiPo straight into the VBar. No issues since day one.

hmmm, I don't know about all that. First, 4000 mAh is pretty enormous for an RX battery. I use 2100 on mine , even my 700 gassers that fly for 10 minutes. I use about 2 amp average over a flight and that is running five servos.

Second, I seriously doubt you have any electronics in your battery let alone electronics that turn off the battery. If your electronics are cutting out, either the battery is just crap or you have another problem.

Third, the battery label says 5C which on a 4000mAh battery suggests a constant rate of 20 amps, yet the listed ratings are 4 continuous and 8 peak. So something is funky there.

Either try another battery, or you can also add some capacitors across the battery. They can help supply surge current. Hobby King the pretty cheap or you can make your own.

This is the actual battery I have been using
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXDVCC

It is LiFe and LiPo so the voltage is a little lower.

Same pack, different site. Peak is shown as 40a here.

Everything rhodesengr said is spot on. And again, check the setup! You can't run just one, or small ga. leads.

Exclamation

I tried 2 other packs, same problem. After contact with supplier the Max amp is 8 A. Now we removed the small electronics part inside the battery and it works without any problems.
I am looking now for other brands because i lost faith in these pacs. The main batt. (5000mAh) from gens are performing perfect. One thing that i found strange from the beginning with the rx batt was the fact that the leads were only 0.5mm...

I use the same battery. Easier to take care of than a LiPo RX pack. I use only three flights per charge. They appear to support at least five flights per charge. These packs fit the RX battery tray and clear the canopy, no problems.

Use both servo leads, or better yet the deans connector, to provide power to your RX or FBL.

here is what I do. i cut off the Deans and put on an EC3 mainly because all my charge cables are EC3. Then I take a male to male servo cable, fold it in half and attach the mating EC3 at the fold. The EC3 connectors are my power switch and I have two power outputs. In my setups (BD3SX with a full Spektrum AR series RX) I plug one into the 3SX and one into the RX. Some current can back feed through the cable loom.

Nano-tech 2250 mah 65-130c discharge. I use an Ec3 on the battery and then a Ec3 to a servo plug Y connector and put both servo connections on the HC3sX I'm using. That's with all HV servos and two sats. I can get at least 4 flights and probably more, but with two helis at the field and 8 flights, I need a break lol.

Pulse 2s2550 LiPo and Hyperion 2s2100 LiFe -- never an issue with either one.
