Just a small tip if you want to get your real headspeed and don't have a tachometer or want to bother with imprecise calculations :
Get this : http://www.heliflightcenter.com/Heli...liportdesk.htm
It works on windows phone and windows.

I tried it on windows as I don't have a windows phone, and on my mini prôtos governed by SK540 at 2500rpm, it gave me 2504rpm, so it's safe to say it's damn accurate.
It gave me those results on the first try. It uses sound frequency so you need a PC running windows and that has a mic.

I would have posted the original website, where I downloaded it, but the domain just went for sale , this website has the exact same version though (MD5 checked).

hey DebianDog, cool stuff thx..., And thx to gasser,Now I know this is an older post but...,
I was wondering if you've tried, and I read this here on the helifreak forum that you could use audacity, a great sound app for linux, windows, to calculate head speed as well, so I was wondering if you've tried this approach, to this problem yet???
If you would could you update the rest of us on this please???

There are several phone tachs available these days that are easy and accurate. Start them up, put your phone on the ground, fly your heli, check the HS after you land. No need for a laptop at the field - at least not for this.
