With the RG031bx, do you need all 3 sats connected or will it work with just one or two ?

Unfortunately, it looks like you need all three to bind and work properly

Well thats straight from the horses mouth isnt it.

Looks like JR need to introduce a few small "Futaba" style Xbus rx`s.

Well done on finding that by the way Pigpen, I`d be hunting for days for summat like that.
