I do not have a DX6 but does it have where you can program mixes?

on my DX7 you use mix3 and mix thro to thro then Rate -100 -100 offset -100
and i have mine to work on the gear switch.

i've been looking for this one as it shocked me when i started flying planks that the throttle hold switch does not work. Genreal consensus is that there is no way of doing it, unless you tape down the throttle cut button perhaps, or swap it for a toggle switch.

The dx7 is the same way, you can do it with a mix though(described by epoweredrc already)
Make both channels in a mix throttle, set the rate:
-100%
0%
switch: mix
offset:-100%

I wondered where this thread went to, I wanted to know if the DX6 offered the mix as i explained or not, Does it not have a switch for the 5th channel? (gear switch?)

It does have the switch for gear/flaps. Haven't tried the mix as I've gotten in the habit of knowing my planes don't have TH so I just nudge the stick down anytime I'm going near a powered prop or hooking up the battery.

I still have to get a DX6i and try that mix. The Guy I have the bet with said "Oh you had to ask someone for help". Witch is what he did by going on Rcgroups and calling Horizon.

I know it can be done on a DX7, haven't tried it on my DX6i since I have no electric planes programmed to it, only nitro, so I use the Throttle Kill button. I would imagine using one of the mix's to do it would work.

The DX6i has both. I dont know what you mean by "real radio" but my DX6 serves me well!! I fly all of my planes and helis on it. And yes, "real helis" as long as you consider a rex 450, 500 and a blade 400, cp, msr, real helis. ok, so maybe the msr and cp not so much but you get the point.

Yeah it does work on the dx6i, I tried it a while back when I had one, you use the mix as described for the dx7.

It baffled me as why they don't have a throttle hold function for planks.

I have a 6i and a 7.
The 6i can't do it because it doesn't have the "offset" function that can be programmed into the mix like the 7 does.

Just silly, but that's the way it is.
