Quick flight this morning after I enabled the Governor in the FBL unit.
Stock servo's, motor and ESC. Align 450 Pro tail rotor and Lynx blades. [ame]http://youtu.be/dhcpzK-C3QI[/ame]

Wow, very impressive! Did you have to do anything special to get the Robird tuned to the 300X? I've got the Align 3GX working well in mine now, but it took some tinkering with the setup.
And about the governor: do you use a Hobbywing sensor? It seemed to hold headspeed very well.

The Robird comes with the Hobbywing RPM sensor, which is what I am using here. This video was actually at a lower headspeed. I calibrated the Gov with my Pulse pack at 4.0v per cell, no blades, flat 90% throttle curve. Using the DX8 I set the throttle curve to 61% in this video using IU1, using IU2 at 66% gives a much noticeable increase in headspeed, but is high enough to be rough on my batteries. 4 minute flight at 61% left me at about 37% battery left, but another flight with 3 minutes at 61% and 1 minute at 66% left me with 24% in the pack. I was doing quite a few tic tok's (which are amazing at the higher headspeed) to really give the Governor a beating, and it didnt skip a beat.

The only downside you have to be aware of if you plan to use satellites is that you must bind the satellites on a standard receiver, the Robird itself does not have the capability to bind your satellites for you. I keep an AR6210 RX laying around to do this. You can also download the Robird software and use it in "Demo" mode to view all the setup steps. http://www.robird.net/G31/

Thanks so much for the info! I think I might have to try one of these Robird units....

There is a Robird section on the forums here, and the USA Distributor is active there, so you can pop over and ask when he will get some more, or you can order from Hobbyking (I don't know if Hobbyking includes the second satellite adapter, through).

Yes, I found the area here on HF: https://www.helifreak.com/forumdisplay.php?f=327
http://www.robirdusa.com/ is the website for them too and gives you some good information there. Since I'm working on a scale heli that will need a FBL setup I have to wonder if it is capable of phasing multiple blades? Nice... I'll have to do some digging in that area of HF. Thanks again for the info!

Yep, I'd already downloaded the manual and saw the section for setting up multi-blade heads.
I'm not in a particular hurry, I have (more than) enough FBL units to go around my fleet. I just like trying different things!

Nice. All of those skills honed on the 130X seamlessly translated to the 300X.
Good one. |

Do you use any Mixing on Cyclic (Aileron and Elevator) and Rudder for nice banked turns or just your fingers? I am struggling a bit. Sunday I lost orientation and flew straight into the Grass. The Jesus Bolt sheared and also broke one of the FBL Followers Arm. Head got completely out of the Main Shaft. Blades are not broken but will change anyways. Checking Main Shaft for Trueness and rebuilding head with new FBL Followers, Feathering Shaft, Lynx Dampeners and new blades. Thanks By the way Chris... your PM box is completely FULL and does not accept anymore PMs.

I use cyclic-to-throttle mixing mainly for idle1 which I run V-curve to lower and in an attempt to maintain a low HS regardless of load. I don't think it helps in the banked turns. It's most likely my fingers. It works just like with my 130X and mCPxes. In fact, I don't know if I like the Pitch Up Compensation feature. I don't miss it with my 130X so maybe I'll disable it and test later.

Turnigy AE 45A ESC ($21) and HobbyKing Parkfly P2632 motor ($7) are in. Definitely better than stock motor and I'm running lower HS than stock with 10T. Can't wait to try 11T and give the BLHeli governor some work-out next.

Stock motor with 10T governed at 3000rpm
Turnigy AE 45A ESC with BLHeli 10.0.0.0 12* collective pitch Nanotech 45C 1300 Stock 245 CF blades 3.77V after 4-min flight
HobbyKing Parkfly P2632 motor with 11T governed at 3100rpm 3.75V after 3:50 flight. Motor comes down barely warm, battery a little warmer. Love this setup. Aileron tic-toc is fast now and seems to be limited by servo speed. Continuous power in big-air loop is good. Not a whole lot more power but just enough I can still fly 1350 and 1300 packs. That's the way it should come out of the box.
