Very true. I chose the Protos for different reasons. I picked it because of the weight, because of the sound, and because of the design. To each their own. I have flown both and they are both great helicopters.

regards,
Well, if it is the same size as teh Hitec Gyro/servo combo, then Yes. That is the combo I am running on the Protos.

Buddy of mine showed up this morning with a new Protos. I must say it's a whole lot different than the Rex500. The sound (or lack of) is incredible. And I gotta say it looks better in person than the pics posted here (Which look great BTW). Really smooth, quick, quiet, light machine. I like the formed frame assembly and the forked tail slider.
They could put a better vertical stabilizer on it but heck, tha'ts upgradeable.

Was going to build the Rave450 but I may have to get the Protos.
It's truly different.

I am no expert on ESCs, and what might eb best for one person might not be best for the next. That said The Jive is supposed to be a good ESC. Is the LV enough for 6s or are you running lower voltage? The Jeti Spin is also suposed to be good, but again I am no expert. Maybe someone else can save me here?

I would see what the t-rex 500 guys are running or maybe even better check out the MSH Protos Owners thread at RCGroups. That would be a great place to ask the question of after searching there you do not find what You want.

"Best" is a rather inexact term, it depends on your criteria. If money is no object then a Kontronik Jazz is perhaps the most admired for its features, performance and outstanding governor. The 55-6-18 would be fine but only has a 2A SBEC so folks are tending to the 80-6-18 due to its integrated 4A SBEC.

At least one Protos owner tried the new Kontronink LV Jive but found problems and sent it back. The Jive are very new and may have teething problems, the Jazz are very well established.

Otherwise there is a growing range of 40A to 80A ESCs with integrated SBECs including some from Jeti, Hyperion, FlightPower, Scorpion and Turnigy with prices from about $50 to $250.

Thanks guys...I read about the 1 poster that had the Jive 80 Lv Think his problem was more with static.
He later says problem fixed with a diff ESC but also grounded the boom to motor mount also with the new install ....then says all is good now no problems|:

Anyways I went for it and ordered a Protos and Jive ESC 80 LV with some other goodies.......If I run into any problems I will let everyone know whats up.
