Question Which/What step down (DS76t servo)

(Help!!)
I'm drawing a blank, did a quick search and came up short! I sold my old 250pro,and built another with all the upgrades and spares I had,but I don't remember what diode was on the tail of my old bird to bring the voltage from 5.5v to 5.0v! I'm using the talon 15,and DS76t tail ! Help,I wanna run to RadioShack ASAP!

Sometimes it pays not too be lazy!! I'm guessin from looking at some servo wire and a spare diode I previously and tucked in 250 junk box it's a 3a barrel diode!!I should've looked! I had more than one in a pack!!! No radio shack today!!

Sounds like you got it!! A 3a barrel diode. INV2001 or INV2002 If you need more.

I am just running my DS76T directly on the 5.5V of the Talon ESC--on both my TRex250 (15A) and Blade 300X (25A). So far, so good. Servos come down just fine--not hot. However both these tails are really smooth and running Chinese weights, so their loads are reasonable. YRMV if your tail is binding and/or the loads are high--or you have a lot of vibes causing the tail gyro to really keep the servo busy. I always touch the tail servo after landing to make sure it isn't hot (or even warm).

These voltage ratings are really out of date, they were really to indicate whether the servo would be ok for a 4 cell nicad pack (nominal 4.8V, but 5.6V when fully charged) or 5 cell nicad pack (nominal 6.0V, but 7V fully charged). Just like lipos where the nominal voltage on the pack is rated at 3.7V/cell, not the 4.2V fully charged.

If you feel better, putting a diode on is fine--it certainly doesn't hurt anything.

Plenty of us are running DS76t on 5.5V with no step-down without a problem.

Thumbs up 5.5v Definetly Works!!

Yeah you guys were right!!!! Screw the step down! 20 flights in,so far,so good!! Oh yeah,I installed one of those GARTT 250 3600kv motors, and,I'm honestly not dissappointed! If you're building a beater, that $13 motor is just as good as the $30 version! No bias here,I could've bought any motor I wanted, but pulled my head out my a$$ and gave the clone company a shot! We'll see how long the bearings last tho!!LOL!!
