Default cb100 dead tail

hi every one,

im very new to rc helicopters. I bought a silver bullet from brookstone and fell in love. i had no clue i could afford a rc heli, and had no clue they made them this small. quickly upgraded to a mcx within two days. I love that thing to death too! four days latter i order a cb100 and can barely wait for it to arrive (met the mail lady at the door!) I flew this thing twice. no crashes, just bumped a garbage can and kept going. I landed ok both times. first time was a little hard, but still on the landing gear, secound time was smooth. parked it for minutes. come back with a new battery and try to take off, and just spins. I quickly notice no power to the tail.. weird?

i read a bit and heard of the tail motor being sensitive, and just assume its busted. i took the tail boom off and inspected the wiring, checked connections, and everything looks fine... i dont have a tester or anything like that so i have no way of knowing for sure what the deal is.

I ordered two new motors. The 2g one from wowhobbies.com, with the wire that goes to it as well. bought soldering iron, solder and shrink wrap to fix it up nice. waited again with a big smile the whole time. it still doesn't work.. does it matter how i connect the wires? the motor does nothing.

my next step is the tail esc. i guess?

i just thought id see if anyone thinks they may have an idea of what the problem could be. i read through the remote manual, and chopper one. i never changed anything, just flew out of the box...

its killin me!!!! i just want to fly this thing!!! from the two short flights i had it seems awesome!!! i just cant stand waiting for parts in the mail, and I'm about to buy a MCR from the hobby shop to ease the pain.

any ideas? im just about to order the esc. i really dont want to wait one more day than i have to for this thing to ship.

Try to increase the throttle slowly. Due to the small sensorless motor with high KV rating sometime is a little hard for it to start. But one it start spinning it should be ok. And makes sure you wait for both LED on the 4 in1 and the tx stop flashing before you start to fly the heli. Hope this works for you. For the three wires connected to the tail motor, it really doesn't matter which way you connect them. Just check the direction after you solder the wires. If the motor is spinning backward just switch the motor plug around and it will turn in the right direction.

I would check the wires from the tail motor to the tail esc. Sometimes all look normal but on or more of the tail wires has come apart or snapped where soldered to the esc plug.
Had a similar problem with my main motor and all looked fine. I only found the broken wires after removing the heat shrink.
Hope this helps!

Ok, thanks guys.
I got it running. When I put the new motor on I just wrapped all the access wire around the tail just to see if it worked. I think that made a magnetic field or something. 45min of sticking the wire back through the hole and through the tail boom, trim, solder and it seems good. The trims are way out, and I hade to reverse three things in the remote to get things working normal. It also huvers unlevel, makeing it tricky to fly. I'm guessing I have to level my swash? I'm going to read through the manual again for set up when I get home. I'm just assumeing that it should hover level. I am out of ground effect so that's not the problem..

I'm realy the only person I know that flies, so I have noone to help me out

ok, just to sum up the problem.
i switched motors on the tail, and realized you cant have any slack in the wire. I originally had wrapped all the slack in the wires to the tail motor around the tail boom. the tail jerked around in flight. Then i trimmed the wires and ran them through the boom and left about an inch and a half of slack out the back. that worked fine wile hovering about slowly, but when i started moving fast and darting around it would jerk and loose control. I then trimmed the wires tighter and shrunk wrapped them and the problem went away. i had no idea it would be so sensitive, or how hard it would be to run the wires through and solder the little tinny ends and shrink wrap. it was easily over an hour long job. hopefully it gets easier. im gunna pick up the "helping hands" thing for next time

boy, what a quick little chopper though! A little more tricky to fly than the mcx for sure, but in a very good way. I'm not all that impressed with its elevation speed, so i assume ill get the bigger motor.

hope this helps any other rookie that has to change a tail motor.
