KV is only half the story. You also need to know how much torque the motor produces. Scorpion makes a really good motor with only 1400 KV that a lot of people recommend. I am running a Turnigy typhoon 1800 KV that I really like. As long as you select the right pinion for your motor, and your battery and ESC can provide sufficient current, you'll be fine. I'm using a 13 tooth pinion on my typhoon, but people with the scorpion routinely use 15, 16, and 17 tooth pinions.

Thanks for the reply i dont know the torque i only used it cause it worked good
on my blade 500 its a fl the trex is dfc. Ilooked at the typhoone and the sk comp
im sure they are close in specs the only thing the 520 is when i give it alot of
umph it bogs a little like i said im a newbee sort of. I can fly it sport dont wont to
flip or anything till the bugs are worked out and the motor is one i beleive. Theress
aa little slop on the bearing blocks also not bad just a little play(side to side) but
you feel pretty good about the tungery(?) motor

I had to replace one of the bearings in it after a pretty good crash, and it's worked great since then. I run it with a 13 tooth pinion governed at 2650 rpm. It has great punch and doesn't bog.

What says to cut back throttle curve? I would tell you to figure out what 100% TC gives you got headspeed, and set your TC to then give you the headspeed you want. 12 tooth is fine if you are running ungoverned. I needed a little more overhead for my governor, which is why I went with a 13T pinion.
