So is it advisable to size the MUI for peak current? I'm thinking 75 A on my 450s and 150 A on my 500.

That's how I've approached it.

Same here, I can't find any info on what happens if you exceed the specified current, the documentation seems to refer to maximum current able to be measured and doesn't give a rated max current that I can find.

I have the 150 MUI in my Goblin with a CC lite ICE 100A ESC, I am seeing peaks of 130A with this setup. It is using the smaller Scorpion 4015 size motor so that will probably go higher with the 4020 Quantum I have for my other G500, but I have a 120A Mezon for that.

So your going to put a 120 into a goblin 500 ? I thought the 120 would be good for the 700.. HUmm have to re-thinks this all before i order ESC from Esprit. I now use the Jeti DS-16 and want all features such as esc programming RPM telemetry etc etc..

A 120HV will work in a G500 or a G700. A 120 non-HV will go kablooey in a G700, but work fine in a G500. A 120HV-rated ESC is pretty versatile. Whether it will fit or not, whole other story, but it seems like very often they fit just fine.

Until I find a Mezon, I'm running a HobbyWing 120HV in my G700, and several people here are using them in G500's, 7HV's, all kinds of stuff.

We're talking about MUI sensors, not ESC's.

Did I misunderstand? Seemed like there was uncertainty on Mezon amperage choice. Oh well!

I'm using a 120 8S Mezon in my G500 and have seen peaks of 169A but normally peaks are 130-135A. I'd say you'd be safe with the 150A MUI.

As mentioned I will use the 102A 8S (LV) version, but it is important to note I have seen much higher peak currents from my Goblin 500 on 6S than from my Goblin 700 on 12S for the same style of flying.

The current (pun) discussion is relevant when talking about MUI's.

I think ill grab a few want one in my Gee Bee R1 & maybe throw one in my Goblin 500 to play with it. I still want new esc's for my Goblins so i can monitor head speed voltage etc etc. Hence why i bought the radio....

Keep in mind that the ESC rating is continuous current not peak. AFAIK all the mezons are rated for 300A peak. The 90A Mezon is likely ample for the G500 since average current draw is not even close to that.

If you push really hard at high head-speed in hot weather, a higher rated ESC may be needed, but that has to be a small minority of users.

That a correct. 300 amp peak. Temp being the primary factor, of course.

Temp is the primary factor for average current limit, short spikes to 150+A do not really contribute a huge amount to the thermal load on the heatsink (they are simply too short, for most heli logs the spikes are only for a few ms). The 300A peak would be the limit of heat transfer from the FET die (these are pretty small) to its packaging and then the heatsink, ambient temp is not a huge factor here.

Got a modellbau unisens-e and jeti rx to go on my goblin 700. Tired of waiting on a mezon ESC to come into stock. This should be fun.

I think you will be missing something...like an ESC The Unisesns is only for telemetry

It's what i might do on my Goblin 500 for now, use a Mui-150 and use it to monitor MAH & current etc etc..
