Default Have I been screwing up?

Got a DX8 and been using it on phoenix for quite a while..the only changes I make on the models is the weight (turbine apache is my favorite)so Ive never set up the TX although Im trying to find the settings for a 450 for a newbie like me,I can fly any heli or plane and dont crash much at all..Im the process of setting up a 450 so the question is by not using all the stuff the DX8 will do..am I going to be in for a big surprise when it comes to the real thing? When a gyro is set up on TX will the model on sim reflect that? No idea about idle up ...stunt modes..(dont care about 3D right now..even though I can fly inverted a bit just for fun...)so am I doing this all wrong? THANKS

I think it's best to become as familiar with your Tx as possible.

All your radio programming will also work on the sim. The skills you learn on the sim will "somewhat" apply to real life. Just don't expect to be as good.

No, you're not screwing up. Just realize that the sim hasn't taught you everything. In this case, it's taught you how to control a heli in the air, but it hasn't taught you how to set up your Tx. So even though you may have a couple of years experience flying models in the sim, you need to think of yourself as a beginner when it comes to setting up your radio, FBL, and heli.

So, you're doing the right thing by asking questions. If you have a question about anything, stop and ask before you blindly forge ahead. Your heli will thank you!

Go watch all the Finless Bob videos on CCPM setup. He talks about setting up your radio too, so that should answer a lot of your questions.

Default Thanks!

Yes your right,I have a lot to learn,Ive watched bobs videos till my eyes bled and learned a lot,I can fly a micro 977 CP and that hooked me even more after playing with fixed pitch..does the sim USE the gyro once set up on the TX? I finally got brave and have "idle up" now and wow! One more thing,on the videos on setting up TXs they say have a switch to turn gyro on or off..why would you want it off??without this site Id be clueless more then Iam now,to a new one getting into this it is a bit over whelming..thanks again!
