Default Kosmik cool fan mounting

I received the kosmik 200 cool today.
I comes with a fan, I'm unsure how to mount it.
There are 4 self tapper screws that go thru the fan mount holes, but what do they screw into?
I'm guessing they screw into the heat sink, but that means I will wreck the nice finish on the heat sink, which is a bit disappointing.
If this is what I need to do, which way around do I mount the fan? Label up or down?

I am not sure about screwing into it but you want to mount the fan so the leading edges of the fan blades are up. so it pushes air down into the heatsink. you always want positive pressure in a cooling environment.

How is it powered?
I thought the fan was built into the heat sink.

Default Kosmik cool fan mounting

It plugs into one of the 3 expansion ports for power.
The provided screws are very coarse threaded, I can see them making a mess of the heat sink

Yes the screws do go into the heat sink, I used 2 on my 770 and you can move it around wherever but the middle would be best,https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=514099 I have it mounted that way so the canopy would fit.

This is my first Kontronic ESC, I have set it up for a helicopter.

When i power the system up, If the fan is connected, when i power the BEC, the BD flashes, but it (ESC, and the BD) does not turn on, nothing happens to the ESC, and the fan spins very very slow. If i disconnect the fan, then the whole system comes to life, and if i plug fan back in, then it works strong. Why is this?
if it is like this, that means, anytime i want to fly, i would have to disconnect then connect the fan???

Try something. Boot up the radio/gyro with your buffer pack first and then plug in the main packs. See if the esc arms and the fan turns strongly then.

+1 the Demon requires 5.5 volts min to initialize and coupled with power hungry servos can make the kosmik not initialize. So do as Ben suggested and plug your 2s Lipo buffer in first.

As far as your voltage goes I would reprogram as it should be 8.0 volts not 7.8 at max setting

Ok, you were right, the problem is fixed. After i did mode 10, it did increase the output voltage to 7.9 volts, based on my telemetry monitoring. I ordered a Jlog. SO it is probably at 8 volts, but by the time it gets to the Rx, it is 7.9 volts or so.

When i plug it in, i have to wait a good 15 seconds for it to all power up. I am ok with that!

Yea if you are using throttle output from the demon to the kosmik it will take a min as the demon initializes then arms the Esc
