Great looking Helis !! Makes me jealous, would love to have that weather for flying. It is winter here, snow and -25.

It is purely by accident that I happen to own everything Curtis makes ... Not that I'm complaining. I'm really hoping I can make it out to Austin on March 15 and see the stingrays race.

My LHS had pair of Blade SR skids... they're surprisingly flexible. I still have the original skids but I'm waiting to boil them before mounting them.
The blade SR skids can almost lay down flat!!!

Picked up a used 700 ballistic fso. Maidened today and it's a very nice machine. Can't wait to put some hurt on it.

Default ENV to Ballistic

I just finished converting my ENV to a Ballistic. I wanted to keep my ENV canopies as I have four in different designs.

I drilled a new canopy mount in the frames about 20mm above the hole for the Ballistic canopy, this way the ENV canopy sits level and the opening is well clear of the swash. It does sit higher as it's a bit taller profile than the Ballistic canopy.

Default Canopies

Yeah, thing is that the Ballistic canopy is perportioned slightly different and is a lower profile. So to fit an ENV canopy on the Ballistic frame it has to sit at a position that puts the top about an inch higher. As you can see in these pics , the swash is hidden as the top bit of the canopy comes right up.

Otherwise if you tried to put the ENV canopy lower the graphics would not be level with the rest of the heli.

I already had several ENV canopies so I wanted to use them. The Fusuno looks nice but I have to say, it's pretty flimsy. But I got it super cheap in a big blowout canopy sale last year so I'm Ok with it :-)

I could put two sets of mounts on and then I'd be able to fit either ENV or Ballistic canopies without modding the canopy at all.
