I bet they will remind you when you ask for a replacement motor that doesnt cost like a 320H and last longer than 20flights

Well so far, for my flying style and skill level it flies pretty well as it is. The only upgrades I'll be doing are what I mentioned and that's for more visibility. Will need more batteries for it though, two are not enough when you have such good weather.

Yeah, $2 per flight in motor costs alone would get old pretty fast.

It would be interesting to see how many flights it would take on one of these with stock electronic failures (and related crash damage) to break even with the upgrade costs for real electronics. I would have to guess in the 100 flight range on average. I luckily wasn't stubborn enough to find out...

Hey Varc, my 300X is completely stock other than green Lynx plastic main blades, relocated BeastX up top, and my scale Jet Ranger fuselage.... she flies great and I'm working on about 150 flights. I also fly sport/scale with no 3D so I'm sure that has a lot to do with it being so reliable other than my elevator servo crapping out once. I love how fast and responsive she is with the comfort and confidence building of low crash costs in the event of the inevitable... only twice for mine!Click image for larger version

The point is, that when it starts to go (it will) and vibrate, its outright stupid to get a new motor with the same issues. Same goes for the tail hub. Especially when you can get better stuff cheaper...

Lets call it "stockish", not blinged out but sensible upgrades...

Listen Varc, and all others that like to keep this one stock, scale flying and orientation training is as far as you can go before you will start the issues. Points to watch are the elevator servo link where it rubs the motor, the motor itself and if you develop a slow largish tail wag( this means the tail servo is being kind enough to let you know it needs replacement right before it craps out on you). The majority of us have been there and done the ground work so a crash from failure doesn't happen to you. Trust me when I say all the electrics in this bird are rubish ( except the BeastX) and the frame has way too much flex in the mast to keep it stock and unbraced. Anyway stay safe and fly safe my friend.

I'll just say check back with us in 6 months and let us know if you're still running all stock components. What's the point of arguing a subject in this "pictures" thread that's been beaten to death in a million other threads (ok maybe just a few less than a million).

I've been flying mine over a year and a half and only had one servo failure.... just saying. I do plan on upgrading all servos but no point until another one craps out since I have no more extras in my tool box.

I was "arguing" in fun. My point is my budget is a lot tighter than it used to be and probably more so once I move out on my own. At this stage, visibility is important so thats where I will be making my changes.

My "argumentive jabs" was based on how my previous helicopters have ended up being.
Anyway, on with the show!

Just coat it up in orange duct tape or vinyl and she'll be bright as the sun, well maybe not as bright but it will work

I know that, I was too........ I seen your Nano. But I thought I'd give everyone a refresher on what needs to be watched. Talking about making it more reliable, get some Lynx dampeners, they'll compliment your plastic blades and last longer than the silicone ones Blade stuffs in there.

^actually that's an older pic I'm just currently out of town and haven't taken more recent ones with GoPro.... I have relocated the BeastX up top and no longer rocking the green tail blades, I am currently working with the GoPro trying to reduce the "jello effect" a bit... so far so good!

But I really like how it turned out and it flies wonderfully. My favorite of my fleet so far.
