Default Battery Question

I have the opportunity to pick up a pair of brand new flightpower EON lipos for a very good price. They are 2500mah 3S (11.1V) with only 2 charges on them, they were ran in a traxxis revo truck.

I was planning on running a single 6S setup until my buddy offered these up for sale. For a series circuit sources should just be additive, so I should have the equivalent of a 5000mah 6S setup @ 22.2V, correct?

I'm a newb when it comes to helis, so I figured I'd ask you guys before I threw the money away, but I don't see why these batteries won't work. Opinions?

Forgot to mention these are the X-Lite EON's, so they are 25C.

If you put the in series you will have 2500mah 6S if you put them in parallel you will get 5000mah 3S - you want the 6 S series

Doh! Haven't had my coffee yet, of course the amp/hrs stay the same in series. Been a while since I had a circuits class.

Are the flight power batteries decent? I'm new to all this, coming from nitro planes. I will be doing mild sport flying eventually, with a 2600 headspeed. Can I expect times of 4-5 mins with 2500mah batteries?

I don't know those batteries I'm afraid. the safest way (particularly with new batts) is to run them for 3 minutes and measure how much you put back in - you should aim for 80% (i.e. put back in 2,000mah). How ling you will get depend son your flying style - I used to get 6 minutes on 2200mah batts (very gentle) now that I hammer around a bit more I get 5 mintes on 2650mah.

Cheers,
Mike.

Thanks! I think I'm gonna pull the trigger on these, they'll at least get me in the air for some hover training.

i picked up two of the bluelipo 6s 3000mah from hobbypartz.com for 60 bucks shipped. only 20c, but im just learning. they fit in the jug canopy (barely) and will give you plenty of flying time when your just learning.

I get 4:00 min flights using 6s 2500mah batteries with a head speed of about 3000, so you should be able to get 5:00 with the lower head speed. I agree with Mike though on starting out with a lower timer setting and see how much you put back in the batteries, then you can bump up the timer from there.
