Default How to fasten rear section of canopy?

Hi guys, the velcro works great when the heli is sitting on the ground, but I already know that it won't hold when I'm doing 70 or 80mph tail first inverted hurricanes. There has to be some way to better mold or fit this canopy over the boom so it isn't acting like a sail to catch the wind.

Have any of you guys molded your canopy, and if so, how? Any help is appreciated.

I believe that some have used a heat gun to slowly mold the canopy to the tail boom. I have had no problem with the Velcro holding. These Mostros are very fast!

The only secure way I have found was to wrap velcro around the outside of the canopy as seen it post #25 of this thread https://www.helifreak.com/showthread...=662789&page=2 Make sure the velcro is sticking to the boom and then wraps around. Another Mostro owner had tried this first and it works great.

Small stripe of clear tape works well and isn't visible.
Make sure to change it after 3-5 flights
Used the heat gun method also.

I used some industrial strength 2" wide velcro from Walmart around the boom and made bigger pieces to go inside the canopy. Then I took one of the battery straps and cinched around nice and tight, after about a week of just sitting there it molded to the curve of the boom without any heat. It holds so well, it makes taking the canopy on and off just that much more a pain in the a$$!

Here is my take on the rear canopy thing:

- Took a rubber/foam strip about 5mm X 20mm X 70mm
- Wrapped a cardboard tube with paper until it has the same OD as the Mostro boom
- Stuck sand paper strip along the tube
- Sanded the rubber/foam strip so the center portion goes away and it can lay on the boom with the other side being completly flat
- Glued the rubber on the boom with E6000
- Glued velcro strip on the rubber with E6000
- Lightly sanded inside of canopy to remove gloss to stick opposite velcro side also with E6000

Once everything is dry (overnight) - tested for strength and seems to be holding on good with the large/flat velcro surface.
