Default 400 stretch with logo10 boom

Hey guys,

I just put my 400se in today for the first time after a good 50-60 flights and ive decided to put the logo 10 (620mm) boom on it and some 520mm mains. anyone still stretch these things out? i know it was common for the logo 10 to run 550's but im assuming anyone who wants that gets a 500se now. i was using 3300 packs for the se length. Hopefully the stretch doesn't cut back on my flight time too dramatically, but we will see! ill probably end up with larger packs. If anyone has any thoughts or advise for me then please dont keep it to yourself.

Parts on order, will keep you posted!

I use 523mm blades on my Logo 10. It flies nicely.

I converted my Logo 400 to a Logo 10 about 2 years ago and never looked back.

The stretch did wonders for the 400, it flies like a 500 now with a slightly lighter more floaty feel.

520mm blades seem like a bit long for the stock logo 10 boom though.

I run 500mm blades on mine and I would say that 515mm looks like the maximum safe length, however is Roger Salmon is doing ok with the 520mm then perhaps you will get away with it.

My 3000mah packs are good for about four and a half min of average sport flying at about 2150rpm. Obviously the longer blades don’t require as much headspeed so it does save the batteries quite a lot.

Looks great and in proportion. At first I was just curios but now I saw yours I'm thinking of giving it a try. Any chance you can take another photo of the whole heli side on, also showing how far the mains over hang the tails?

Here you go.

Please excuse the dirty blades, we have lots of bugs where I fly and I had a rough landing in some long grass. These are 500mm blades.

Also my 3 year old insisted on posing with his dads “copter”, I’m hoping he is going to catch the heli bug as well when he is a little older.

Thanks again. You have loads of clearance there. I have the Quick UK tail and Edge 72mm blades, so I will have a little less clearance but I think there will still be more than I have now.

Its great if you can get your kids into the hobby. There's one guy at our club who's been bringing both his boys for the past 3 months and they're progressing rapidly. This guy gets to spend every Sunday afternoon with his boys enjoying his favorite hobby. Probably his wife is happy about it too. I envy him

I'll get a photo side on to show the tail clearance. I only use this heli for mild sports flying with Edge 523mm mains and stock Logo 10 tails.

Please note that the stock canopy was replaced with a Logo 500 canopy.

I formerly flew 553mm mains and 84mm tails with the Logo 10 620mm boom, never had any problems. VERY floaty and long flights.

Thanks for the photos. You have loads of clearance there.

Did the 500 canopy go straight on or did you have to do anything else?

The canopy needed one modification; the addition of an extension to the tongue at the bottom that engages with the frame. See the image below.

The canopy came from Hobbyking and cost $30. They have a great range of low cost canopies for the Logos.

On another topic; your name looks familiar. Are you the Mahbouni that was flying the SJM 180 and 216? I still have mine but haven't touched them for 2 years now, even have loads of spares.

Looks good.

Yes I am the same person. I gave my SJM airframe away to a young lad at the club a couple of years ago

What parts do you guys still have on the shelf?

I fly the 400SE (stretched 400). What does the (extra) stretch to LOGO 10 gives me more?

It gives you lighter disk loading and better stability.

When I stretched my 400 there was no 400SE available yet so going from 425mm blades to 500mm blades was quite a big jump.

When I heard that they were bringing out a 400SE I though they were just going to re-badge the old logo 10. I really don't understand why they went for the odd 475mm blades.

Coming from a 400SE with 473 mm blades, it's a small step to 515 mm blades, so I expect the difference to be not that spectacular. That's why I asked.
