After you down load the file to your computer, how long should it take to update the Gyro? mine was updating for over an hour, then my computer shut down and stoped the update. Thanks

Not good. The update takes under a minute. Try doing this:

1/ Open John_NZ's app
2/ Select the correct COM port
3/ Click the Open button in the firmware upgrade group and select the the appropriate firmware file (ZYX or ZYX-S)
4/ Click the Upgrade button
5/ De-power the gyro (leave the app running)
6/ Hold the gyro button and repower the gyro (you should see the progress bar in the status line)
7/ Wait for the upgrade complete
8/ Exit the complete dialog
9/ Cycle the power on the gyro and wait for it to initialize
10/ Click connect

thanks for the list of instructions. The problem is when I open the upgrade button I don't a choice as to which one to upgrade. I tried to flash the 3.5 as you suggested earlier in this thread and it says it upgraded the firmware. but i still can't get it to connect or initalize. also When I try to down load the 4.0 from the Tarot website it will not allow me to. any suggestions with all this would be great. Thanks again

Sounds like your PC might have some issues. There's no reason why you couldn't download from Tarot's website... Have you tried restarting your computer?

Dr M, With your help I upgraded to ZYX-S4.0 using Johns 1.22 software. I had an issue getting the ubs adapter to connect to com4 on Johns software. Com 4 is the port assigned to the ubs adapter using Tarots software. The issue with Johns software is that there is no com ports to choose from. The drop down menu where they are on Tarots software has nothing in it. I have looked and looked but cannot find anyother place the com ports could be. I got it to work before by bringing up the Tarot software first then opening Johns software. Somehow Johns software would pick up the com 4 port and display it. This is how I installed ZYX-S4.0. I have done this a couple of times since then to tweek settings but yesterday it would not work. I have down loaded Johns software several times just trying to get the com ports but it is the same result each time. I used Tarots software yesterday to tweek the settings, just wondering why Johns software does not have them. I don't recall anyone else having posted this issue so I assume it is unique to my download? My Tarot software is version 3.0 if that makes any difference. Any ideas? I was going to email the question to Johns web site but I couldn't find a link to contact them.

Air Wolf,

At the risk of going OT to the original topic - a couple of things to check ...
1. You must plug the dongle in before you are startign the software
2. If you are doing this and still not seeing anything go into the Control Panel>System>Device Manager>Ports thhis will tell you which ports Windows recognises and hopefully you should see Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port (COM X) - X is the number of the port that you should select in teh software.

If you are not seeing this in Device Manager then this is an issue with your window software or the driver, not with John's software

Mike, Thanks for the response. The computer has assigned com port 4 to the usb dongle and it comes right up in the Tarot software. The Tarot software also lists all the available com ports so you can go in and click on the one assigned to the dongle. Johns software does not have a com port list that I can find. The space that the Tarot software uses is empty on Johns software. Thats why I can't use com 4. Sometimes if I bring up the Tarot software first with the dongle in com 4 then bring up Johns software it (Johns software) will display com 4 only and it will connect and work. Johns software will communicate with the ZYX-S gyro without being connected but it will not if the com port is not selected. Thanks for the response.

Air Wolf,

perhaps you could reinstall the USB-Serial driver. I think your windows is getting confused.

Default Re: Tarot ZYX Firmware V4.0 Flight review

Flew my 500 with this update yesterday. No complaints, flew great.

I also got to fly this firmware version on a value hobby 450 pro (the cheaper one) that I setup for a buddy. We experienced the pitch up on the 450, but not on my 500. Overall the heli flew fantastic, my buddy has only flown 3gx, and beastx and was real happy with the performance. Unfortunately the front tail gears stripped out in flight after a few packs and he had to crash land it. Kind of a bummer, but it shouldn't cost to much to get going again.

Dr M. Any thoughts on this causing FFF pitch up problems?

Check out the video here at 1:45 (the first 1:45 makes me think he really knows what he's talking about).

Microbeast V1 Setup: general considerations part 1 (8 min 44 sec)

I wonder if most of us are running the "economy" blades that tend to lean forward like he discusses and causes some of the pitch up in FFF?

here is where I found that link:

Don't worry about the gov if you don't use the add-on module zyx20.
