Default 800 XXTREME now sitting on my bench

Ooohh.... I took a beating from my wife, but I added an 800 XXTREME to my cart and it's now sitting on my workbench for build up.

I went with the 17mm pinion (18 was out of stock/discontinued), Scorpion HK motor, Kosmik 200 ESC and Savox HV Servos.

Is anyone here using their 800 XXTREME with SK720BE & SK-GPS? I am currently using that in my Logo 550SE and LOVE the combo. It *should* work in the 800 XXTREME. I guess I'll soon find out.

There is so much great information on this thread. Thanks to everyone for posting and thanks to Robert for your build videos and comments on YouTube.

More to come...

Congrats and about the wife....valentines is coming up so just resist that urge to build and make her day special and she will think more of you again haha ask me how i know

Glad the videos helped. I am looking at doing a follow up to show small things i have picked up now a few months after the build for example my main shaft and tail shaft started rusting. I had to pull both and first get rid of rust and then apply some oil before dropping them back in. I would have left them lying in oil in a plastic bag during the build had i known this was going to happen and then remove and dry them just before installation.

So there are a few small things i want to post but all in all this machine is a joy and i just got more battery plates with velcro straps...just saving for the batteries.

Cheers and enjoy the build

The 800 is a awesome machine ,both on the bench and spooled up in front of you. After you get over the initial feeing of the 800 in hover ( I went from a trex 700n to logo 800 and it was quite intimidating at first ) you will be doing blade barks for fun. She does a good bark.

As for the SK FBL , id' suspect a little bit of tuning on the rotor head should get you up to spec.

The 800 has a bit of a unique head dampening on it. Mikado has the vbar 'XX' software with the tweaks already done. If I recall the main rotor gain is lower than it typically would be. It was a while back on a post that dave (kyle's dad / mechanic ) had posted.

This is my favorite BB on heli freak. It's a combination of the heli and people that fly them. I had mentioned blade sizes a little while back, and swapped from the 753's to the 813's and the performance was much nicer for me IMHO. I have sinced crashed it and of course my new blades are gone, though another pair arrived yesterday. Here's a link to the ugly story if anyone wants to know what the wrong sleeping pill can do to you. https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=682812 . I put the 753's back on it and flew it last weekend, but missed my 813's.
I see that Mikado ships them with 813's, but if you haven't gotten blades for some reason, it's worth looking into.
Enjoy,
Guy
