Here's a bit of video from yesterday. Liz was having a hard time seeing the screen because of sun glare, but it's in frame for the most part.

Thanks! The 300X was bought so I could try and get my flying in closer and lower, without risking my "nice" helis. I'm starting to get there, now I just need to add in more and different moves.

Just a little inverted hovering over a puddle. Nothing exciting, I just like watching the waves

Larry, I noticed that you also fly a umx beast 3d. I've been thinking about getting one of these. I have never flown a plane before... would this be ok as a first plane for someone who is comfortable with the 300x?

Do you have a sim? I wouldn't recommend as first plane.. Get trainer type plane and practice on sim..
The B3D is an aerobatic ship, quick and nimble.. Roll rate is similar to a power drill. hahaa

Have you achieved stable onboard video on a 300X using a #16 808 keycam?
Would you please upload or point to a video sample and a photo and description of your mount? Thanks! |

You'd figure the area just below the Bx would be sweet, since the Bx needs to be mounted in an optimal spot for low vibes. I've tried soft and hard mounts mounted tight "just like" the Bx, but no joy. Unexpected, as the #16 808's generally perform well semi rigidly mounted (just a strip of servo tape). I've assumed that my 300X is well tuned, since it looks and sounds smooth and flies dialed in, and hasn't been chewing up parts or backing out a lot of screws. I rebuilt this heli up from scratch the best I know how to, so I guess I'd feel stuck if I can't coax better video out of it. Going GoPro isn't an option I want to consider right now, as I'm pretty "heavily invested" in 808 cams, plus the #16 model has been getting a steady stream of significant hardware, firmware, and software upgrades. Right now the #16 V2 ($43) fully supports feeding out an FPV signal, taking its power from the RX, while storing HD video onboard, all at 17 grams including its own battery (which can be removed). |

Thanks Mike!
Just come in and do a half roll to inverted, then fwd cyclic to stand it up on the tail along with some negative to "wall" it, then push it back. Throw in a piro to make it look fancy. It's easy.
