Question No Y support? Pinion issue!

So, while installing a 13 tooth solid lynx pinion I came across a issue. Background it's 3rd hand heli:
First, my motor is a 1630kv, not good for mini p, normally it is a 1300kv and so the 13t pinion.
Second, my motor's shaft is cut (unknown purpose, too thick???) and an other shaft is fastened on using screws on the cut shaft.

This shaft doesn't allow the lynx pinion to properly go on well because the pinion is longer than the shaft and so there is nothing to go on the y support! This happens because the part that fastens on the original cut motor shaft is in the way for the pinion to slide down. So, I have three choices (I think, please post your opinion)
1. to cut pinion so it fits, the belt won't hold on properly, will be on the slanted side of the pinion.
2. add spacers on motor screws that go into mount and have no y support. Is this bad??? EASY
3. buy new shaft, cleaner and no problems but will have to wait an other week!!!

What do you think? Any comments are really appreciated

Obviously, buying new shaft is best but I may cut the pinion a bit and put some spacer on the motor-motor mount screws.

I will probably use a 14t old style pinion till a shaft comes...

pics will come... Thank you guys!

Sounds like you are using an old motor shaft adapter.
I don't really get what you are saying with option 1 and 2 though.
Maybe some pics would help ?

Getting a new shaft is certainly the best option, it's fairly easy to change hafts on these small scorpion motors.

option 1. the lynx pinion has a flat toothed side and a slightly angled toothed side zoom in to see:http://www.fast-lad.co.uk/store/prod...ducts_id=30565
I can cut the pinion on the top so it doesn't have excess pinion but it will still be elevated and the angled part would be the one to drive the belt so I would put spacers on the motor screws to have a proper tooth bite.
option 2. same but without pinion trim. Remove the y support and put spacers to lower the motor and have a proper tooth bite. Will no y support work?

I asked my dad and he said to use the old style 14t pinion till we get a shaft or trim it somehow. Thank you Aryemis pics coming asap (5mins)

I run without a Y support (because I'm using a warp pinion), but my motor has a 4mm solid shaft all the way, not sure how it would fare with the extra adaptor.

Now that I get it, the 1st option is not an option, you'll destroy the belt in no time.
2nd option should work, worse case scenarion you'll damage the motor shaft.
It should only be a temporary solution though, I don't think it will hold out very well since there is an adaptor on the shaft.

Thing is with the old style 14t pinions is that they crack VERY fast, as there just isnt enough material because of the OWB.

ok, thanks again, I will remove the y support and worst case I damage the motor shaft and buy new. I'd have to do this anyway! I use lnx pinion. I'm coming maiden!!!

I'm using a Lynx 14t and have also opted for no y support. One less thing to stuff with and what's the worst thing that can happen? Wear out motor bearings, break motor shaft in flight and crash causing a rekit? Whatever

What Scorpion motor is it and what is the shaft's output diameter? We may be able to find a new shaft locally. I was able to buy a 2221 shaft here but don't know what shaft you need to work on the mini p.
EDIT:I think that is what you need, have a look: http://nem.gr/scorpion-hk-2221-motor...it-p31257.html

Ok nice. I hope you will have it ready soon. BTW, I slept at 4am yesterday, I saw two horror movies in a row, they were so good I couldn't resist

I don't think scorpion sells the shaft under their name.
MSH sells it though : http://ckado.com/MS-41115-long-motor..._11390_fr.html
Kinda pricey though.

Just finished installing pinion and removing y support, things don't look so good... belt still bites the angled part a bit... gonna have to get new shaft. is it safe to run? also, I couldn't screw a screw on the motor-motor mount because it had too little thread in the motor mount. I will got new shaft asap but is there a difference between these?:

The one listed on my site is the correct shaft for the new style pinions
Msh quit using that adapter some time ago and the old style pinions were quite a bit shorter.

If the belt is biting the angled part, don't run it.

I'm pretty sure the MSH one is longer, judging from where the ciclip groove is.

The other shaft listed is just a standard scorpion shaft and not MSH specific

Alright guys, I'll get my hands on one of these shafts (it's really pricy!!!) and fix it but till then, I'll disassemble the motor area yet again, remove the spacers and put the pinion upside down so the bite is good or not?

Thank you guys, I'll keep you updated.

Yeah should be fine as long as you can fix the pinion on the shaft.
