They have it in 2 colors...black and orange. The orange can double as a wind sock at the field. All you have to do is go up one size and you will be fine. If you have a 500, get a 550 and so on. That way you will have no worries.

Sureflite (Modda) case
I picked up the last Modda case Sureflite had in stock and it seems to work pretty well, though calling it aluminum is a bit of a misnomer. All I needed to do was to cut out a little for the handle on my Aurora 9 radio and a little more for the extra long tail fin I added on. I don't believe in transporting Lipos in the same container as my heli, so I have a separate converted metal cash box with some Velcro on the bottom (to minimize flammable materials while keeping everything secure) for that task. Here is a pic:

Here is another thread I replied to with pics on the subject: https://www.helifreak.com/showthread...n+Storm&page=2
I used the Pelican Storm gun case for airlines travel. foam on all sides and can be custom cut to fit your needs. Will hold transmitter, heli, tools and batteries if needed.. just lat it out, outline it and get a SHARP knife and have fun!

Modda Sports
It looks like Modda's site isn't really built. Has anybody been able to contact them through info@moddasport.com or anything?

hello Guys!
I am an owner of Trex 500 3G and I am looking a case to tranfer the helicopter in the field. I have a metal case for my JR TX, but if the case has room also for my tx, this isn't a problem. I have seen metal cases but it seems to be, too big for carrying. What should I buy? I am thinking of buying Trex 500 Align Carry bag. Have you try it? Does this bag protect the helicopter? |

The case protects the heli very well from tip overs, mild drops and most anything that will bump against the case. But the case will get damaged from rough handling, such as air travel baggage handlers. I would not recommend this case for heavy air travel. The case is too big for carry on baggage. And you have to remove the Lipo's from the case if you check or gate check the case. The case will get heavy very fast, if you have to walk long distance with it. It is best used as a transport case when driving. The Align Carry bag has thin padding inside, but is not rigid enough to protect the heli from bumps and bangs. The carry bag only protects the heli from dust and rain. The bag is really only suitable for Flybarless heli's! If the heli has a flybar, you'll have to loosen and slide back the flybar to fit the heli into the bag. The carry bag is very light weight and is suitable for carry on long walks. You could use it for air travel carry on baggage, but you will have to be very cautious that other people don't shove their luggage against your heli bag. |

If you have a 500 with FB the 550 bag works fine without sliding FB. Have a 550 bag myself. Of course its much larger than the 500 bag, but then you also have xtra room for your 250 or similar.

Thanks for the info Black Titanium!
I am on a dilemma which to choose! I want the case just to carry the helicopter from my house to my car, and from my car to the field. Also it is important for me to protect helicopter from dust. |
