For those "in the know"... If I assemble the pipe to the engine outside the frame, can I just drop both into the frame, or do they need to be installed separately?

I want to mate the pipe to the engine ahead of time to give the RTV stuff a chance to cure.

I don't believe it can be installed as one piece.

I doubt you will be able to. The muffler will probably cover the engine mounting screws so it will need to be off for that.
