Default 2.9g Tail Motor

Did a quick search but couldnt find much info...

Does anyone know of a 2.9g tail motor that will work with a cb100? I know of the motors from wowhobbies and other walkera dealers but im looking for something as cheap as possible. Does anyone have a link to something from hobbyking or somewhere similar?

You will need a new holder for it as well. I wanted an indestructible one with an indestructible fin for the 2.9g motor on my 4G3, so I bought one from here:

Hi All
I have this 2.9g Tail motor upgrade, Chinese Jade also supplies an offset tail motor holder as well. This is a very strong little carbon fiber support that is far more superior to the stock one.

I have mine installed on a solid CF tail boom and run the wires externally. The boom is extremely solid. I think the length or carbon rod was 3 bucks.

The only issue I have with it is securing the tail rotor, the stock motor had a flat edge on one side and also allowed the two little pegs from the rotor to sit in the motor to lock it in. The only way I can get the tail rotor to stop spinning on the 2.9g motor is to apply CA every now and then. (or i could just stop hitting things with it)

Any ideas on a better way to do this would be good.

Use proper glue?

The 4G3 tail rotor fits very tightly onto the shaft of the 2.9g motor since it's designed to fit on a shaft with a flat side.

great suggestions. I was planning on buying the upgrade kit from chinese jade for 60 bucks. Just wanted to check here first.

Do u guys think the kit is worth the cost? I dont wanna keep breaking tail motors...and i guess its necessary to upgrade the main motor when going to a 2.9g tail?

as far as the solid tail boom...i assume most hobby shops carry solid carbon rod? ill check it out this weekend as i destroyed my last boom a couple days ago.

I also keep destroying canopies...does anyone know if the mia canopy is actually any tougher? or should i just get a few more stock ones?(planning on ordering the mia landing gear as well)

oh and ya...even though i keep breaking the thing I am getting better at flying lol...gonna get my first flight in on my copterx 450 as soon as my batteries arrive

Walkera canopies tend to break so easily.

If you can DIY, cardboard canopies tend to have less weight and tougher. I tend to make streamlined paper canopy templates for my micros that you can print, unfortunately, I don't have a 4G3!

Most LHS should stock the CF Rod, I brought the 4mm and machined it down to the correct size.

You can try mine. But I made it for the 4#3B, same size as the CB100 but still I'm not 100% sure if it will fit. Of course, artwork needs changing too But it's better if you're also looking for performance because it's streamlined - less drag on the rotorwash will even give you more lift and longer battery life.
