Default Bail-out switch on Futaba FG8 Super

I've been working on this on/off for about 2-3 weeks and I'm still not getting it...I don't know if it's a step that I'm missing or just that I fundamentally don't understand the technology.

I have assigned two switches (SC and SD) via the function menu to Aux 2 and 3, respectively. I have tried to adjust the end-points for these channels, but still I can't see a change in the Skookum software when I flip the switch.

What am I missing

Is there a complete guide to doing this somewhere? I'm sorry if I'm doing a poor job explaining this, but let me know if I need to provide more clarification.

Ok well make sure the radio input on sk software is set to s-bus.

I have this on my 10c and do not know about your radio so be warned!

use the governor menu and assign a switch to it so that it reads say 10 when switch is up and 100 when switch is down.

that should do the trick.

Obviously you need self level activated on one bank only for bail out

Positive this is correct. I have test flown the heli w/fixed gains.

So after I do this, what do I need to change in the Skookum software? I currently have the "cyclic gain" channel set to Aux 2, do I need to change this?

Done

Sweet...
So the Governor works off the same channel as the Gear?
And the Gyro settings work for Aux 2...is that correct?

I'm stoked...so here's what I've gathered.
In the Skookum software I set the "Cyclic Gain" channel to "Gear" and the "Tail Gain" channel to "Aux 2"
I can then adjust the Cyclic gain values via the TX from the Governor menu
And adjust the Tail gain value from the Gyro menu...

Am I understanding this correctly?

Ive also setup my rotary switches so that I can adjust cyclic gain and tail gain in flight, using pro mixes.

If it's that simple (and I sincerely hope it is) I'm going to be really embarrassed.

Is this set up using the "adjustment" option in the Governor and Gyro menu's?

You need to bring up the 'flight gains matrix' in the view menu to see what your actual flight gains are

Excellet, I will try all of this once I get home from work.

Thank you so much for the help.

BTW, was this mentions somewhere in the manual and I completely missed it? I have the tendency to make things much harder on myself than needed, and I think this may be an example of this behavior

Okay, so I got home and did exactly what we talked about in this thread...and it works! I'm pretty excited.

One more question. Does the "Cyclic Gain" percentage that's listed under "Inputs from Receiver" really matter? Or is it the settings under the "Cyclic 1" and "Cyclic 2" tabs that matter?

Both, the one from the TX multiplies with the one from the software. So if you have 50% in TX and 80% in the tab, the overall gain is 40%. There is a menu option that will show the calculated values but i dont remember what its called.

Goto > 'preferences', 'interface' ....make sure you have anything other than 'basic' selected..

Goto > 'View', 'display flight gains matrix'
An popup will show

Now make sure the actual gains in this box match the gains you have set in 'cyclic 1' 'cyclic 2', 'tail1' etc. match by altering settings in 'governor menu' or 'gyro menu' on your tx

As I said earlier you can link the rotary switches or sliders to make it possible to alter cyclic gains and tail gains in flight..... I find this usefull on windy or still days.

On my 10c i have to use 'pro mixes' but you may have something you can use on your 8 as its setup for flyarless

SimStream...Thanks for all the help. I've got it all working (even with the trims on the dials.) Only thing I need to do now is figure out how to unbind the Collective trim from the left dial and the Throttle Trim from the right dial...

Thanks again

On my Futaba 7cH, I inhibited (INH) the Hovering Pitch and Hovering Throttle as they were possibly active as default, hence the nick name Crash knobs.

I don't believe that inh them will affect your programmed trim setup .
