In normal mode, I have the copter set up such that I need to put virtually no rudder to keep it straight; only minor with power changes, which I expect. When I switch in-flight to HH, the nose drifts off. I have great difficulty in seeing exactly what i have set on the gain, which I presume is the issue here. With no graduations and a ridiculously small gain screw head, I have no idea of what percentage I have set, and then how to set what i want?

Is this small drift the cause of your crashes? Hope not.

ON the Esky HH anything below 1/2 on the gain is Rate Mode, everything above is HH mode.

Guess try turning the gain all the way up until it starts twitching then bring it back down a tad until it stops.... Honestly never had to touch the gain on any of my Esky HH gyro's.

You only got 1 hand at the moment you do need 2 fully functioning hands to fly a heli

How long till its off mate?

Mike,

9 months for me. What simulator are you using.as the

Sim,
sim,
and more sim. and when I say sim, I don't mean play grab ass on it, looping it and flipping it and doing rolls. Hover it till you are sick of it. Hover it side in in front of you until you are sick of it. Hover it side in off to your side until you are sick of it...and then do it some more. One of the biggest mistakes people do is jumping into FFF on a sim. If you cant hover in real life, then hover till you cant stand it anymore on the sim.

how did you crash it this time?
It is bad luck, i spent well over £200 the other week in crashes, but you always get those stupid times when you have non-stop crashes then it all goes back to normal.
I feel bad posting my progress report now!
But, today ive put quite a few packs through the Trexi (trex-EXI ) and got things abit tidier.
Been doing some really fast figure of 8's with multiple barrel rolls on the straights, with loops thrown in after the the turns or just before to get them flowing.
got my inverted better, with 2 blade scrapes on the grass today.
Tried vertical stall turns for the first time too, sometimes abit messy but they seem alright, and got a few really tidy tic-tocs All in abit of wind!
I'm looking forward to thrusday now, im flying with Sam Tse and Rob shaw (2nd and 4th place at 3dx champs last year).
I'm now trying to learn large funnels (pie dish) and learning to do the chaos, perfected it on the sim, not to transfer to real life

I'll quote the famous saying on the setup video.

"The better you heli is set up at this point, the easier it is to fly."

I've had my moments with the belt as well, swore everything was in order and 2 inches off the ground it just goes nuts.... tripple and quadruple check your setup, its guaranteed the main cause of your 1 second flights.

This is why i love my Exi, its so much simpler to work on with the Trex Flybar cage setup.

Quite the fussing with Pitch this and Pitch curve that... just get enough pitch in the darn heli to get it off the ground high enough, your still learnign, worry about positive and negative pitch when your ready to start doing 3D.

Well there you go. Don't say i didn't tell you. 2 second flight with new DX6i, and I get a bolt shear off on the rotor head. What next??????? That's me ####ed for quite a while.

Cheers Ian, make sure you come and find me during the break or after the show Do you know which day/time your going? I think i've pursuaded a few heli flyers from here in london to come too
Been flying all day long today, with a really good flyer again too. I've been doing 540/900 stall turns, inverted piro's, more blade scraping and sam tse also got a picture of us both doing some low inverted next to each other (sooo scary when its blowing with wind, low light and you flying inverted almost crashing into a pro's heli
Tic tocs are getting better too, i think its time to try a chaos tommorow or friday!

Sorry to hear about your mis-fortune, i had a week of stupid things like that happeneing, and it really gets you down!

Mr. Fury.

Dont give up..... many many of your problems is due to the Esky Head itself, including and not limited to all the play in it even if its cnc.

Right now Xheli has the upgraded trex belt heads in stock.... beofre you give up spend the 60-70 bucks and get that head and you will be amazed at how much better and stable your heli will fly..... Esky head both plastic and cnc just simply suck.

Goto www.xheli.com then go under upgrades and belt cp ... they just came back in stock...

If you bought a bunch of esky cnc feathering shafts already dont fear as they work in this head as well.

Cheers Wolfie. Had a couple of bad days. Trying to get the stuck bit of the bolt out of the flybar case. MMMMMMMM. Tricky. Have done well, by my standards, with setting up the DX6i, but not sure how the gyro works/settings.
