Anyone with this combo? Results? If so what boom are you using? Lynx or MCPX? Thanks.

Alright I went and ordered the stretch kit. I've never made a boom before. Can I simply use an MCPX V2 boom? The regular hollow one that is?

Thanks. Just to be clear, because I can't seem to find "actual" specs on these things.

Stock Nano CPX Boom: 107mm
Stock MCPX V2 Boom: 125 mm (some reports of 117mm)
Stock MCPX Solid Extended Boom: 150 mm

Lynx Boom: +15mm or 122mm

So I struggle to see how the MCPX V2 hollow boom wouldn't work. Its either 3mm longer or 5mm shorter compared to Lynx. That doesn't seem significant. If I want solid apparently the easiest thing to do is cut down an extended MCPX boom.

A stock mCPX tail boom,

We have been using 140 mm as the dimension for an extended mCPX tail boom. I have never seen a Blade extended boom for an mCPX so I don't know what length they run. I have always made my own booms.

Ran into a snag today trying to build the Lynx solid tail. I'm using 30AWG wire and I don't have shrink tubing that small. Any thoughts on a source?

I cleaned up the two factory BL Nanos. Now putting on the canopies is normal again. That's the smallest shrink tubing I have, no way it will work on the tail.

I have a second Microheli swash, Lynx DFC and of course the stretch kits ready to go on the two BL's if I can find a heat shrink tube option.

Default Factory BL Plus Lynx Stretch?

Does this stretch kit actually help with anything? I'm asking cause I've yet to have my stock tail even with the blade brushless main motor ever blow out on me. I'm asking cause im curious

All reports are that it adds a bit of stability and lift on pitch. "Bigger bird" characteristics. I only think its worth doing if you've got enough juice so I'm in the process of stretching both the Nano and the MCPX BL. The MCPX BL desperately needs some stability.

Anybody have any feedback on the 30AWG compatible heat shrink tubing question? I want to get an order in ASAP....

Not sure about the shrink tube that size. I use liquid electrical tape. Works great for this type of stuff. I am sure you could walk into a Radioshack and get what you need.

Sort of. I just did that and bought their "variety pack" for $15 but I'll only use a 25% of the stuff. Good enough for this project but I need spools of 1mm - 3mm to be "set" for all projects. I'll keep looking.

EDIT:
Found a 100ft roll of 1mm for $6 bucks. LOL

by moving the tail motor father from the center of the main shaft . You will increase the leverage of the tail . thus making the tail more torquey with the same motor.
xtreme also makes a 7mm tail motor . that will help with tail control as well
.
also it is not a bad idea to use solid carbon rod vs the hollow stuff ... it is way harder to break in a crash

look into magnet wire ...kinda like what blade uses on the stock setup. .... u can always sacrifice a unused power adapter for a free wire source ... or buy new magnet wire from ebay

Thanks for the link. From what I've read it isn't really enamel but some polymer film so nail polish is out

That wire that I'm using is plastic coated. I think it is equivalent to the CAT5 stuff..

Finished the stretch mod for the first Nano. The second one will get the Lynx DFC head and main shaft along with a stretch. I hear over and over how "easy" it is to make your own booms. I agree its not "hard" but its time consuming. The most annoying part is guessing the polarity of the tail motor and then having to re-solder it. Anyway... the hover is more stable but I'm having a slight issue with the tail. The tail was drifting badly with the 42mm Lynx blades. I put the stock yellow tail rotor back on and it seems a bit better. I need to do more testing. I was tired and forgot to note which direction the tail was drifting Also When I tried the stretch boom with the stock bullet blades I did not notice a drifting tail. Hmmm....

So here are the pics. As you can see its not suddenly an MCPx. But boy did I pick up some weight. Turns out the Lynx blades are pretty heavy, but they also have more surface area in addition to length. Here are some pics....

Completely stock Nano CPX

Hard wired factory BL otherwise stock

Hard wired factory BL plus Microheli head and swashplate and Lynx Stretch Kit

Blade weights compared (3D blades, I didn't feel like taking off the bullets but I'm sure the weight difference holds)

Hard to say just yet because of the tail drift I'm experiencing. It feels stable and lofty but correcting the tail constantly throws it off. I'm going to try the stock bullets again and an MCPx tail just to isolate the issue. Stupidly I forgot to note which direction the drift was so I don't know if the Lynx 42mm tail blade was overpowering or under powering.

Does anyone know how the gyro stabilizes the tail in equilibrium at 0 stick? It might be helpful to understand that.

EDIT:
Is there a heading hold gyro on the 3 in 1? Does rudder sub trim do anything adverse to the AS3X or get ignored?
