Hmm, not being flybarless myself, I never considered how you would set the pitch without a flybar as a reference point. Send me a simple sketch of what you have in mind.Couldn't you just replace the button with a ruler with a hole in the middle?

No, the align head is not perfectly flat... What I was thinking is something that has the same base as the head button, but then perhaps has a way of securing a flybar. You then screw this gadget to the head block and set the pitch.

LOL! They took the pencils away from me in this place...

I can't draw, but this is the idea... the grub screws are a distance apart equal to the distance on the flats of the flybar. The standoff is the same dimension as the head button standoff....

Maybe I'm dense here. Why do you need the flybar at all? Just sight down the bar.

Which bar?

The longer the "sight" line is, the more accurate your reading will be on the pitch gauge. That's why its hard to set the pitch just using the head button as a reference point.

You could make the bar longer and not need the flybar... but since you work w/ lexan, I thought a clear bar would not have the needed contrast to get it right with the pitch gauge.

The new 3G flybar kits from Align are supposed to have some sort of a tool that makes use of a standard flybar to set the pitch...

Default TREX 500 ESP Flybar Locks are ready

I got my ESP head today and made up the new lock for it. Many thanks to everybody who helped to figure out what was different about the ESP.

Looks great! Even with the shorter one if you applied pressure on the top of it, it leveled the bar. This will be much better though, frees up a hand and just put it in place and don't worry about.

OK. I have an idea for this. I'll try it when I get the thicker Lexan next week.
