The website reads that the GPS will be shipping January 1st and they said they would get to the Black edition when they finished that.

Too bad that don’t make a all-in-one box. It should be much less expansive to manufacture if was in one package. If you need both the Gyro and GPS it’s way unaffordable. You can buy a lot if crash kits for $1000 especially if you fly small helicopters.

I wonder when the Chinese clones will be out. If Skookum procrastinates much longer the Chinese may hit the market first at a much lower price.

The GPS/Magnetosensor has to be away from the motors and servos, while the main unit work best near the C.G. They have to be separated.

=] +1, the GPS module needs to be vertical, the 720 horizontal....

I agree, it is pricey, however, for me it buys something that is more important than crash kits and that is time. I don't like spending family or flying time fixing what my dumb thumbs broke.

As per the clone market, I believe Tarot is already testing their all-in-one unit. Rumored price is $150.

Even if you are only after bail out, there is already the MSH Brain for $200 during sales. It may not be as good or give you a hard deck, but you can hit a switch pretty quick.

I've programmed my 720 to do a sl bailout via the trainer switch (momentary switch) on my DX8. plus it also adds collective.

Great idea bro! Sick of the Skookum bashers that popped in there though. Makes me sick.

As I recall Skookum said that they had a few more firmware changes that needed to be tested and then it would be ready to ship.

In other words... They still have problems and will not ship?

But the GPS is just for those who have already bought a SK720 - cause currently they sell not the old and not the new version.
Not a good tactic I think

it will be a pretty bold move by them to take preorders on a product that wont ship when promised.

I said it before and I say it again; As a professional business, they suck! They are more acting like those dudes, that start selling a DIY project on the forums, to make a few bucks! They apparently never owned a business before AND do not have a store, where they have to look into peoples eyes, when telling them that they cannot deliver AGAIN, because that would have ended up in a few lost teeth! LOL.
Seriously, I do not know if they are going to ship on time or now. I think not. However, one thing I know for sure; I am not gonna support this company anymore! SL or not, GPS or not, I will find another product out there, that will serve my purpose!

peace out!

That's not been my experience at all with skookum! I did have a email that took a while for a answer and plenty that were answered very quickly. As for product releases they are well within their rights as a business too take as long as they like to get the product right.

I find your comments a little harsh too, I own a furniture design and manufacturing company and can sympathise with what skookum as a small business are doing, it's very very hard work trying to keep 100% of customers happy 100% of the time, and most of the time efforts go completely over some people's heads !

How long did it take spartan once info about the vx1 leaked out? How many people bitched about the lack of info regarding release date?

I for one will be flying skookum products on my helis , could I care less about when its released? No, it will be ready when its ready.

Peace out

Skookum hasn't let me down yet. Sure seems they are doing it right to me. They made the development of a full featured 3D capable system seem like childsplay. Pretty astounding for being so new in the market. And the neat little features have been fun to play with too.

I don't mind waiting for the more advanced features. Doesn't seem it's been that long a wait to me. Then again, I understand what it takes to develope new and innovative products and do it well. Not so easy especially when you're trying to keep the costs reasonable....which they also do a good job of IMO.
