Default yge40 or 60 +2520 (also low thr values)

Hi,

Anyone here who flies a yge40 and also uses low thr values? Does it get warm? (I mean 30ish low) maybe a 60 will stay cooler?

Too bad compass doesnt make a 14t. 5s seems like another solution, or rewind to 1150 kv.

Dude, I use a CC without active freewheeling and run 2700... and it doesn't go above 150F, which is pretty cool. You are good, don't worry! Your ESC will run even cooler than mine.

My and others at our fields experience is that they are great above 70%. Below that It will give thermals. This was on 600 and 700 size helis. I dont have any experience with yge on smaller sizes.

Nobody seems to have reported any issues in here. What is the lowest and highest RPM you are planning on running?

2000 - don't know max. 2800/3200
But apart from that it's simply very overgeared.

Well, pick one, you can either get a custom 14T pulley and run 2000, or, you can run 2800/3200... but you are right, it is sort of over geared.

FYI, for 3200, you will need to use the 17T pulley.

Why 2000? I cant imagine this heli flying too well at anything below 2500.

I use 1922 rpm for takoff and landing, 2561 rpm and 2846 rpm for flying, those are measured rpms. That is 50%, 65% and 72% throttle with a HK-2520 on a YGE60 using gov-store, learned at 4.0V … The ESC gets warm but not hot at 50%, active freewheeling is on.

At 1900 rpm margins are very tight with respect to pitch management, at least for me. The upshot: it is very quiet and yet still feels very precise. Extra flight time is to be expected as well but I've never flown a full pack at that head speed so I don't have figures for that.

Now I did: 9min 30sec at 1922 rpm, used 1097 mAh. I did mainly lazy eights, stationary orientation practice upright/inverted, the occasional looping and some flips. Motor and ESC were at 48°C and 40°C, respectively (measured directly after landing, 18°C air temp.)

v90,

Of course it's over-geared if what you want to do is run low head speeds. Every heli is technically over-geared for that.

However, if you want to run higher head speeds, it can be geared "properly" with the available 16, 17 or 18T pinions.

Default yge40 or 60 +2520 (also low thr values)

I've got the YGE40 and I fly it at 1900, 2700, 3200. I think it's set to 50% for 1900. I have flown a full pack with each of those head speeds and my esc almost always comes down just warm to the touch. The only time I've ever got it hot to the point where I started to worry was on a day that was 100 degrees out. And I was beating the crap out of it too.

Nice, I'm going to use a Yge100lv which isn't much heavier and I have that one laying around.
