Default I think my head speed is too low?

So i was checking my telemetry logs and noticed i'm not even hitting 3000 rpm on my head speed. Is my gearing off? or is this just tired batteries?

the first 3 flight are 3300mah zippys with lots of flights and the last 2 are 5000mah with only like 3 flights on the batteries.

i'm running zeal 430mm don't know if that would make any difference or not

oh yeah this is a trex 500 dfc pro

5000MAH lipos in a Tex500? Does it even lift off? LOL. Heaviest I've ever flown with were 3300 and I didn't like the weight. Changed to 2600 and its lovely. Most pilots are using 2600 or 3000 on the Trex500.
You havn't provided any detail about your setup so your question about the headspeed cannot really receive any useful answers.

The 3300 is what balances best on my fb 500
2600 is too light and it winds up tail heavy.
Sometimes I throw in a 4600 for additional stick time and it's nose heavy to the extreme with that!

3000 is the best for the 500 IMO

i'm sure the 5000 would work good for speed runs since it's already front heavy and wont be going up side down

I think i might play with the motor timing and see if i can get some more rpm out of it. that or i need a different motor pinion

Not sure what you are looking for, but 3000 is a very high head speed for 500. Take a look at the threads above on set-ups

2900 is all you need on a heli this size. I never used as much HS when i was doing 3D with mine.
Also the small tail blade grips bolts make this heli quite suscetible to failure at high HS, specially if you have vibes.

Yeah my 470 is nuts at 3000rpm and it's quite a bit smaller (380mm). Surely 2900 is plenty on a 425mm heli.

i guess my head speed is where it needs to be, I just remember some people going up to 3100.

With all the main blade failures at high head speed plus the tail like said in a previous post I think ill just stick with what i got.

Thanks for the reply guys

i think around 12.7 + / -

might take it up to 13.5 and see how that does, I would need to manage collective well because it can be loaded down some what ez on the 3300 mah battery

The 500 is pretty heavy, I'd run 13+ if it were mine. 3300 is pretty heavy, too, making the problem worse.

ok so more pitch and some lighter batteries and it should come alive. Thanks for the help.

Maybe I will go with some 3000 or 2800mah

3000 is a good match. I'd even say 2600-2650 would work too, but watch your flight time. The original 500 flew with 2600s but the Dominator has a more powerful motor.

I used to run 2600 packs, and a buddy of mine flying low RPM preferred 2200, on a very light 500, the old ESP with plastic main bearing blocks.
