Futaba 9257 for swash?
Hi there
I saw some pictures of the T-rex 500 on Trextuning.com where the new 9257 was used for swash, but is the servo strong enought? I know the 9257 is very fast but will the JR 3400 be a better choice possibly? About tailservo I thought a standard servo like 9254 was the best but it seems that JR 3400 also is used on the tail in the T-rex 500 videos uploaded! Any comments?

i dont think the 9257s would be good for the swash... the 3400's seem like the best choice so far. and as for the tail... the 3400 should be fine, especially with the 7703D... im sure someone will modify it to fit a standard servo like the 8900G.
with only 27 oz and recommended for 4.8v only they dont have enough torque... when all 3 move you only have 81oz of torque which seems small compared to the 3400G which has 51oz at 6v so total with all 3 would be 153oz its seems like a better choice. plus it can run a 6v which will be a plus for many people.

9650s or 3400Gs will be the ticket based on all the info that has been provided. All imho of course.

I already have Hitec HS5245MG's and HS85MG on hand, so I'll be trying those out first.

the 5245s would be just fine to start, crazy 3D ers will appreciate the speed and torque of the 3400G from JR

Believe it or not 9257 servos will work just fine for the swash. That's what Jason Krause runs. They seem to handle 6 volts as well without issue (about 40 flights or so). In addition, the new Align BEC can be programmed for different voltage. If you are a Futaba hard core fan, you can't go wrong with those servos. Just make sure you get lots of gears because they will strip in a crash!

Yes Andy did say the BEC in the 500 ESC was programmable which is COOL!
I would like to know the specs on the amperage though. I am a little concerned that if it is only 3 amps that may give us Spektrum AR7000 users a worry about brown out conditions. As you know some folks using high power servos and the Align 3.5 AMP BEC on the 600 have experienced shut downs of the AR7000 as it is picky about low voltage hits. So for head room I am hoping the BEC is 4 or more amps for safety. Lets hope Nice to see ya on here Bert!!! I bet you cant wait to get yours aye? I know I cant Bob
