Reverse piroflip question
Hey guys
So I am here for the past 2 days trying reverse piroflips (my normal is with left rudder and niw trying with right rudder). I have basically caught the basic movement that needs to be done like CCW cyclic stir and have got the cirrections down to a good level for a 2-day practise. What is odd to me though is that on my reverse piroflips my thumb slips from the stick making me very inconsistent. That would be normal if I was a thumber, but I am pinching plus that slipping doesnt happen on normal direction piroflips. Why? Has anyone else experienced a similar situation that can give me some tips? Is it just a getting-used-to thing maybe? Thanks Ps: I am pinching with the thumb on top of the stick and the forefinger on the side if that helps.

are you putting more pressure on your finger causing you to move the stick out from under your thumb? i fly the same way you do but use my finger as a guide and kind of let the stick slide on my index finger at the same time im using it to help "steer" the stick

what do you understand by "reverse piroflips" reversal during the flip or the cw/ ccw version of the flip?
There is also front abd backflipping so you have 4 at all. You should get rid f thinking in those terms but think on the synchronus and asynchronus part of the steering. There ar dozends of reversals and it gets even more confusing on continuous piro tocs. To get them down try to learn the piroflipping circle cw/ccw flown with rudder towards the center and then away from the center, The alternate that every half of the circle or then every flip or every other flip until you have the feeling for the rudder while piroflipping again. Then narrow the circles diameter again and you can reverse at any point inside the piroflip. The other training i use is the pirorainbow reversal. Start out with a 180 rudder per Rainbow and no direction alternation and then narrow it to 90 which is a lot more confusing and then slow it down until you can toc and steer rudder while toc-s. that is my sim training at the moment (it is fuXXXng cold and rainy outside,) |

Re: Reverse piroflip question
Well that was not my main question but thanks for the tip. I will try that tonight on my sim session. Maybe this will help my thumb get accustomed to the reverse stir it has to do.
I am slowly starting to improve my piroflips and have reached the point where they stay pretty stationary 50% of the time. My thumb slipping off the stick is gone now for the most part and it was probably a combination of 2 things. First I had my sticks pretty low so the stick didnt have good contact with my thumb, probably because of the way I hold the TX. Secondly, my thumb was not accustomed to doing the opposite motion so I had to push the stick a lot with my forefinger resulting in my thumb falling behind (you nailed it M&P ). Now what I am trying to do is reverse my piroflips and still keep the heli stationary. Maybe I am rushing a little but it is my favorite move and I really should have learned it earlier. It is tough and will be a nice challenge for me to have it down perfectly in real life after a month of practise. Anyways, what is a good way to do the actual reversals? What I mean is should I pick a certain orientation ( like tail-in for example) to do the reversing of the piro or is better to learn to do it randomly. In other words, is it a bad habit to do it the first way until I am confident doing it nice and precise? The first way is a lot easier but maybe it is wrong at the same time?

Reverse piroflip question
In the smacktalk video's Bert Kammerer recommends starting out by picking one orientation to reverse at.
I'd start there and when you can do that and feel like reversing in other orientations you can always do that later. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

try the circle methode it contains all orientations.
From mho you should train nose in cw then nose in ccw then tail in cw then tail in ccw and then both of them frontflipping and then backflipping version, When you have nailed them try the sideways orientations rightflipping and leftflipping cw and ccw. After this the circle cw and the circle ccw. The trick is to not orientate at the heli but to orientate at the lowest point of the Disk during flip and the Rotorheads Centerpoint and steer the rest subconcious, It is not stirring which is required. You gain a lot of orientation if you do not fly them stationary but at a slow linear path in the bginning. |
