Default stock motor of the kds 600 innova

can the 500kv stock motor of the 600 innova be used in the 700 innova? no 3d here, just smooth flying.

also, can the 6s setup of the trex 600esp be used for the innova 600? so that it just becomes a 6s setup?

thanks!

Yes. In fact I believe if you order a 600 or a 700 from kds, they both come with the same 500kv motor

i was looking at the 700. there are no kits with the engine. i have no idea why.
at least i now know that the motor will be ok for the 700

so is the 600 esp align (6s) motor ok with the kds 600 since my friend and i will be doing a group buy, 600 and 700... he wants just a 6s setup. so was wondering if it will be ok to run that old 600 motor there and i get the 12s setup from the kds stock

Actually I was wrong there. 600 comes with 500kv and 700 comes with 420kv. But as you say, not many kits come with the motor now. I don't know if the align 6s setup is ok or not. Maybe the gearing is different? It should work though.

do you think that the 500kv motor will work with the 700? i've been reading conflicting info re the actual size of the 700... some sites list it at 1340, 1400, 1360.... so what is it really?

the 600 is mostly at 1280. so if that is the case... extra 100mm on each blade... but the length does not extend by 100mm too?

you should not run the 600 motor with a 6S setup.

If you do the math you'll se why.

The 600 motor has a voltage constant of 500Kv.
500 times 44.4 Volts (from the 12S) will give you a theoretical motor rpm of 22,200
if you run the same motor with only 6S the calculation is: 500 times 22.2Volts equals 11.100 - so half the rpm, that's no surprise of course. You might be able to compensate a small part of that by using a different size for the pinion gear - but you can not double the number of teeth there, if I am not mistaken.

The KKDS 550 that has a 6S setup as a standard configuration comes with a 1200Kv motor.
1200 times 22.2 equals 26,640 motor rpm.

If you want to run a 600 size heli with 6S, you need to adjust the motor and get one that allows for a simmilar rpm. So if you want to stay with the 22,200 then you need to use a motor that comes with a voltage constant of around 1000Kv.

Now - I must admit that I am really a newbee to this whole thing, so if one of you professionals see that differently I'd appreciate to hear about it.

ah - ok. Well you will need an adequate voltage constant for the Align motor as well. Do you have an idea of the specs of that Align motor ?

This is the Align 600MX, 1220kV Brushless Motor. This motor is compatible with the T-Rex 550, and 600 helicopters, but is not compatible with the 600 Pro, or other 12S applications.
Features:
The 600MX motor incorporates radial fan in its end bell, creating powerful airflow to dissipate heat.
Tweaks to motor design and reduction in weight not only contributes to dramatic power increase, the efficient cooling system enables cooler operating temperature during and after flights when compared to the previous generation motor.
The 600MX motor armature has a special balance adjust to improve the serious vibration problem that is found in other small motors.
Maintenance free, high torque, high efficiency, stable and quiet.
High-speed ball bearings, powerful magnetic outrunner rotor.
Specifications:
Input voltage: DC 11.1V-22.2V 3-6cell Li-Poly
Max continuous current: 90A/150A(60sec)
Max output power: 2000W/3000W(60sec)
KV: 1220KV
Dimension: spindle 6x45x59mm
Weight: 320g (aprox.)

thats the description. i was wondering why... everyone is moving to 12s now for the 600?

Well this 1220Kv motor will definitely fit to the 6S setup. I have not doubt that from a pure rpm perspective it will also nicely fit into the KDS with a 6S setup.

Whether or not you should run a 600 size heli with a 6S setup is a different question.
As you said, you are planning for light sports flying only (no hard 3D) So in this case, I would guess the power will be sufficient. I would not want to do extended 3D with it.

This whole thing has been the main reason for me to get a 550 size instead of the 600, because I thought with the 600 you are forced to use a 12S system. In the meantime however I have heard of other examples here in Germany where pilots were flying a 600Rex with a 6S setup. I have however not yet heard of someone doing it with a KDS, but I don't see a reason why it should not work since the KDS 600 and T-Rex 600 are very simmilar in size and weight.
