SAB 770 in march.... should be a big killer
big machine but still light weight with beefed up components to handle the bigger blades.

Looks like I am the only one so far to urge a little caution.
If it was me, I would wait a few months after release to see what problems pop up. The prototypes may look great in videos, but production is another thing entirely.

The 770 will have a new boom, belt and tail gearing according to SAB but I haven't seen if any other parts will be changed to make it a 770. From the videos it looks like it will go just as hard as the 700. Dave do you think comparing the Xxtreme to the 770 Goblin is a fair comparisson? //Dennis.

My vote goes towards the Goblin... Very innovative helicopter... I like innovation, so Goblin gets the worm... Not saying the xxtreme isn’t awesome (it is!), I just like the goblin more... personal preference.

However a bunch of people want to be the first kid on the block with one of these new helis and are willing to go through the growing pains. I for one applaud their enthusiasm and am greatful that early adopters exist. I saw some of the issues early 7HV and E7 owners went through because they wanted the new kits as soon as they were available. I'm not cutting down the manufactures as they did their best to take care of the issues and resolve initial production run problems and current kits are coming out much smoother. One of the reasons I ordered a TDR was that it has been in production since 2009 with only a few minor modifications and I continually get affirmations that the kit is of a much higher quality than anything else out there. However even the TDR had few improvements in 2010 that are considered important by many people. So the odds are that there will be some teething pains no matter who the manufacturer is, and odds are that the manufacturers will do everything in their power to take care of these issues as fast as they can. I for one would like to encourage the early adopters since these helis need buyers before they will ever mature.

Yes, us early adopters are needed
Cant compare an 700e to an 800e in terms of flight characteristics or performance but purely for "what to buy" of course you can. Im building an XXtreme today then as soon as the Goblin comes out I will be building one of those too One thing I heard already about the xxtreme is the head is cast??????????????

Both appear to be fine machines and both will make us HeliFreak’s happy if someone gave us one for free!
But since that’s not happening I need to make the logical choice and the Goblin wins. I already have an Align 700E and a TDR so the Goblin is the natural choice for me from a cost standpoint. My battery packs and blades can all be used on the Goblin so this keeps my cost down that’s a big plus… The XXtreme will require larger less common blades, larger less common 7S packs not to mention you will need a charger that will handle 7S packs. The XXtreme kit price is quite attractive add your servos, packs and radios system of choice and you are flying the big boy! I also look at both helis from fresh perspective point of view for me the Goblin wins, new fresh design much the way the TDR was when it first came out. The XXtreme is just another large boom and pod heli more or less the same as the current offerings but bigger.

The xxtreme is supposed to weigh in at over 13 lbs RTF... that would be one hefty 700.

The Goblin is 7.25 lbs for the bare bones kit. No electronics, no batteries. The batteries alone will add about 3.5 lbs to that.

Unless you really like being a pioneer, wait a while.
See how many version 1 production bugs show up. There's a big difference between a carefully made prototype and the first production run.

According to the specs.... the xxtreme has an AUW of 6 kilos... that's 13.22 lbs... A 700 weighs in at around 10-11lb's, right? So... 700 weight? or... 800 weight?
Call me crazy, but it weighs more than a 700...
