That's at least $1000 too much. Hoping our local price will not follow this price!!!

Did a bit of research on the price, seems that JR priced this to compete with the Futuba 18MZ, but Jeti radios with similar features are selling for $1k less than both. Graupner radios with similar features except the aluminum frame and gimbals are selling for $2k less than the 28x. If JR does not rethink their price strategy they will loose out and only sponsored pilots will use the TX as has happened with the Futuba 18MZ.

What the?? futaba sold way more 18mz's then they ever dreamed of selling!
I got one and sure ant no sponsored pilot!!
The tech from the 28x will end up in there lower priced TX's just like futaba.

Jr and futaba are still top dogs. maybe there pricing there way out of that spot with these high prices and slow to respond to changing tech.
Time will tell

"with similar features"

Well to me, features equates to bling. I do not want a color touch screen because:

1) Touch screens wear out and often don't function properly.
2) I fly in the day time and would like to see the screen in day light.
3) I might want to see the telemetry - in the day light.
4) I don't fly the screen. I fly the heli, etc.

On the other hand, the control stick assemblies are important because I actually feel them the entire time I am flying.

A metal box or frame is essentially useless. There is nothing wrong with a plastic molded transmitter case in one color. A big screen is useless unless you are going to put up graphs of telemetry or something.

I have been flying my XG14E since Dec. and love it. The sticks are the best I have ever seen in 45 years. That includes Proline Competition and Kraft Signature sticks. The control response and RF link are flawless. The tiny screen does not bother me at all.

1) The programming could be a bit more flexible. Flight modes on separate switches. Two position switches - programmable (like stick calibration) and user installed.

2) The bling feature needed is actually talking telemetry. I thought this was ridiculous and would be distracting the first time I heard of it. But practicing auto's would be much easier if the telemetry would tell you the altitude. Additionally, beeping warnings are not that great since you don't know what is beeping unless you land.

Talking telemetry is what JR needs to get a larger market share.

An update of the XG11 with the new XG14 sticks and slightly better programming and talking telemetry would be great for 99% of pilots. On the other hand, Futaba has the $350 10J which is obviously the money maker segment of the market.

This looks like a great TX and one ups the 18MZ in a few areas. I'm sure it has value at its price point, but the DS-16 has happened since the 18MZ.

I know a few people who have sold their 18MZ's for DS-16's.

What I want to know is what does it do that will make my day at the airfield better.

My DS-16 was a huge improvement and I've really loved it since I got it. Jeti keeps adding really cool new features that I can actually use. Lots of flexibility and programabilty and integration of telemetry etc.. blah blah blah

What has the 28X brought to the table that has value and will make my day at the airfield better?

There will be some died in wool JR people who will get this because they have only used JR and only trust JR. For example there is a local group of Jet pilots who use JR 12X's nearly exclusively and I bet they will a perfect target audience for this. Many of them have 100K or more in their RC Jets.

It was a VERY smart move to make this TX look very conservative and all business and not make it look like an 11X. This group of Jet pilots universally HATED the 11X. They wanted brake sliders they could easily reach on the side of the TX and the way the 11X had them on the back upset these guys quite a bit. They also didn't like the Cylon look at all.

Hopefully this TX will get them very excited.

HC, my understanding was DMSS only, and don't think there is any DSMX support.... But it does look very interesting, I must agree... I was kinda hoping that it would be out in the US by now, and that we may have seen some feedback starting to hit the forums...

Here is the link to product info on the 28X on JR US:
