Default What else comparable or better out there ?

I've been a logo for for some time now.

Started off with the 600se , then 600 3d , then into the 700 and 800.

Previously I did most of my learning on the trex line - old 450 (non X ) all the way up to the 700n. Switched over to logo before all the pro versions came out.

The aligns were good for what they are , flew well , and are good machines overall. 700 converted to FBL was clearly the best and my favorite.

Making my way thru the logo line has been great also. The 6003d saw the most action of them all at 350 flights. My 700 is at the 100 ish mark and the 800 has past the 200 mark a while back.

I've sold off the smaller logo's (aligns long gone) and now have been right into the 700 and 800 size. I bumped the 700 to a 14s setup and it's quite nice now.

I tried the goblin thing, I likes the visibility (nothing like it ) of the g770 yellow/blue but found the tail didn't like FFF and tailwork. Also tried the 700 sized goblin with the same tail issue.
If I were a box smack flyer then I think the goblin tail would work for me but I mix it up a lot currently. Frequently I'm doing a pass or FFF on the way back and throw the tail down and toss about when it gets back in front of me.

I got to thinking what else is out there that I might like to fly ?

I'm going to be selling off the g770 and g700 so that should yield a little cash back my way.

Martin

I really like my Logo's have the 800, 700, 600SE, 600SE in a Uvular Fuse and a 600SE in the Mikado 500MD fuselage.
Might look at the Minicopter Diablo very well built and fly great. There are many choices out there, The Mikado's, Minicopter Diablo and TDR'S are my top choices.

I was chatting with a fellow flier today at the field.

Thinking the top top shelf and boutique specialty heli's are going to be the next step.

TDR , diablo , ETC

Problem being the parts would be expensive and time consuming to get.

Maybe one day , but for now I think the logo's are going to be the machine for me.

Maybe one day i'll try the XX480. I wish it was larger though , as much as I loved the 6003d I found I liked the large machines better.

It is bigger than you would think. The size is right between the Trex 500 and 550. The best part is changing main gears is done by removing one clip...its that easy.

If you are open to ideas, I am VERY pleased with my new 690, one of the most fun machines I have flown to date. Lightweight, much stronger than the 600SE and overall just a better flier. I fly mine from 900rpm all the way up to 2000rpm and it performs very well. Just throwing out another idea is all !

Diabolo 700 is quite a bit like a 700xx... But better, IMO

And diabolo parts aren't hard to get, there is a US dealer

Two stage drive train, quite a bit lighter than the 700xx, but heavier than TDR and thunder tiger e700

And it's different, has a belt tail drive.

If I could have one of these two, I'd keep my diabolo and sell the logo 700

In the same spirit, the TDR, and thunder tiger e700 are additional light weight options that fly very well

And the e700 replacement parts are REALLY INEXPENSIVE, much less then even the logo 690SX parts

Been considering making a logo 770 on 14s again.

800 tailboom and TT trimmed to fit a 770 or 780 blade on a l700 frame.

Just curious - did you try the 26T tail pulley on your Goblins? I find it gets the tail authority over the hump compensating for the high profile boom. Running at 2150 with a ratio of 5 with 115mm tail blades pretty much gets it done.

I setup the tail with a 24t tail pulley and 120mm rotortech tails.

Changed out the pulley to 25t later on as 24t was giving me bad vibes.

With the comp tail upgrade I even added 7.8mm to the tail disk.

Still not enough for FF flight and tail into the wind

Nice machine but I found it loud and the tail wasn't as strong as a logo is.

I have Logo 800 XXtreme, 700 xxtreme, 600 SX, 480 Xxtreme, had 550 SX, 690 SX coming, have Compass 7HV, Compass 6HVU, Avant Mostro, Synergy E7SE, Synergy E5, had Thunder Tiger E700, most Aligns, Whiplashes etc.
My favorites are the Avant Mostro and Logo 600 SX . I'm expecting the 690 SX to be similar to 600 SX! In my opinion but the Avant Mostro has great quality and awesome flight characteristics and the Logo 600 SX power to weight is much better than the 700 or 800 XXtremes.

I just sold my Agiles to buy a 690 and 700, will report back in a week or two for comparisons. I personally prefer the quality of the logo parts

Diabolo is hard to beat. The chassis is built like a tractor, yet doesn't break the scales. It can be configured many different ways (3 blade head, 800 etc...).

It flies like a dream as well.

Chuck at Peak Aircraft has all the parts and is great to deal with.

I owned logo500 and 600 and I have done one of the first custom 690. After I moved on but logos are super.

Other really good alternative I have now is 7hv ultimate. It is really good flyer from low to high rpm and it is one heli for example where the stock vbar settings works so good...

I have also goblin 700 and e700. But the 7hv is a keeper in my opinion. Also the new upgraded design Chronos will be OK from the first info.

If you have a heli of TOP brand you are already ok the fbl units play the difference and with vbar you can tune your heli very similar.

I too ran all the logos, the 7hv, then tried all the goblins.
The thunder tiger e820 is where I've landed. It's a beast on 14s with a 5035.
It flies a wide range of headspeeds well, has very quick cyclic like logo 700, but also has a light disk loading for tons of pop on the collective.
I recently tried a 690sx and found the e820 to be much more precise.
Great heli, quality is as good or better than mikado, light years better than compass.
It's my ride until mikado can bring out a decent logo 700.

I'll second just about every heli listed in this thread, not that I've owned them all, but they are all good. Marty, take a good look at the Mostro. I have a buddy at our field that has one and its a really top notch machine. It's a shame the MA Whiplash is gone as its a fav of mine. I've now squirled away enough parts to keep mine flying for years, but wouldn't recommend getting one if you don't already have one. There are great deals on them though and you could buy three bodies for the price of a new 700. I digress! The Mostro is the only heli that catches my eye right now. You really have the best Helis already so it's hard to "upgrade". I'll be curious as to what you do.

I've decided on the logo 770.

I've been trying to sell off the goblin's and got too bust this year with work that I didn't take the time to spread the word far enough , next year I try harder.

I was so painfully close to getting a diablo though. Again , dang work got in the way and by the time I replied it had just sold that night. Kicker .... was looking for a goblin , would have been a trade. Double kicker ... in Canada 1 province over

Oh well , not meant to be ( for now ) . The 700 Triablo has an appeal to me for some reason. 800 tri would be cool also but I think the 700 would be more agile and suit me better.

NTM's input on the e820 sounds good also , but where to get parts ? rotorquest has dropped TT and then I'm left going to tower (pita for us up in Canada). I hope to get out to alberta for a funfly and meet NTM and OICU812 and have a closer look at that 820.

I liked the goblin 770 size and how it performed (less the tail) quite well.

Mikado black Friday 15% off was the last straw , hummed and hawed for 2 days then just did it.

Ordered up a 700 kit only , 800 boom , TT , rod , struts.

I've lined up a used 5035-380 for it , figure if it can take my collective beating on 813's a set of 770's is going to be a breeze

Picked up a set of black and silver SAB backline 770 3D blades. Slim choices for 770 size.

Silver vbar and VBC of course

Only thing I'm thinking on is the batteries. Leaning towards the 7s 5000's. The 800 floats down with little effort to auto already , losing some disk won't be that bad I hope. Other wise I'll drop to the 4500 ish.
I have some 5000's and 4400's here to try before I buy.

Still trying to figure out the boom trim. 800 swings 813 , 700 swings 713. If I split it right down the middle i'll calculate 763mm. On the other hand 700 will swing 753 stock. If I split 813 and 753 down the middle I get 783.
Would be nice to have sm/med/large all evenly spaced.

Martin
