A Christmas Tradition?
`Twas the flight before Christmas and all through the hanger, not a bird was whirring.
Of random crashes, there was no danger. The lipos were all plugged in their chargers with care, In hopes that full voltage would soon be there; The young pilots were all snug in their beds, While visions of flawless flights danced in their heads; And with parts on my bench and tools in my hand, I had just settled down for the tasks at hand, When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, I sprang from my bench to see what was the matter. Off to the window I sprang in a flash, Pulled open the drapes and threw open the sash. The moon shined brightly on the new fallen snow Like the noon day sun on the objects below, When, what to my weary eyes, was simply beyond words, There was a miniature sleigh, towed by eight tiny r/c birds. With a little old pilot, so lively and quick, I knew in a nanosecond it must be St. Nick. More rapid that than TRex 600’s his coursers they came, Holding his Mega DX, he flew all eight by name. “Now, Align! Now, Free Spirit! Now, MCX and Spark! On, Snow Bird! On Eagle! On E-Flite and Quark! To the top of the house, to over the wall! Now power climb! Power climb! Power climb all!” As dry leaves that before the leaf blower fly, When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky, So up over the house the coursers they flew. With the sleigh full of toys and St. Nick too. And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof The gentle sound of landing skids. As I gathered myself and turned around, Down the chimney St. Nick came with a bound. He was fully decked out in designer flight leathers from head to foot, Nowhere on his clothes was there any ash or soot. An aluminum flight case was flung on his back, And he looked like a 3D show pro as he opened his pack. He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work, And filled all the lipos plus new parts to boot; then turned with a jerk, He pulled out his Blackberry and scratched his nose, And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose. He sprang to his sleigh, and pulled out his Mega DX, They all flew away, I was left feeling perplexed. But I heard him exclaim, as he flew out of sight, “Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.” |
